I'm pretty sure this is the guy and I remember right.

He got paralyzed by that wreck and then some time later he shot himself.
 
Yeah I remembered right. I'm pretty into bmx and heard about this a while back.

His name was Colin Winkleman. He was either paralyzed or just completley shattered every bone in his his legs. Then killed himself shortly after the accident.

thats super sad, i bet that would have worked if they went a tad slower, that woulda been sick to seen him stick it!
 
a few years ago someone on the DC team did that ... but with like a quad and a smaller jump.
and just did a little back flip and stomped rather than being an idiot with a van and probably goinng all simon dumont on his heals
 
This is from one of the Travis Pastrana Nitro Circus videos. the second or third i think. they thought he was going to be ok, but when he found out he would not be able to ride again, there was nothing else left.

ouch. that sucks. looked like it could work if he was going slower. maybe they could do that same thing again and figure out how fast the car would have to go if the guy stayed stationary. that would be sick.
 
If your talking about how stephen murray was recently paralyzed it was not because of something like this. He may have done this in the past. but He was recently paralyzed while attempting a double backflip in the dew tour.
