Mouthguard?

What do you guys think of mouthguard? Nothing too expensive, just something to help prevent head injuries. I have had two concussions in the past and care about my brain. If you guys think a standard mouthguard does the trick do you prefer strapped or strapless?

I would never wear one of those strapped ones because I feel like they look like shit. I should probably wear an in-mouth mouth guard considering the fact that last winter I took a prybar to the mouth and busted out my front teeth and am just now finishing up the implant process. 10/10 don't want to go through that again.

ahhh that sucks... bet the repair wasn't cheap either...

I thought it had become common knowledge that most guards do almost nothing in terms of concussion prevention.

Still good if you're worried about biting into your tongue or damaging your teeth, but they don't prevent concussions.

I don't wear one but they're not a bad idea to protect your teeth. As far as your dome not that helpful.

I've def bit through my tongue pretty gnarly a few times and other stuff going face to knee on flat landings or casing huge jumps.

I would say strapless would be the way to go but I guess if you ave a reason for wanting one with a strap go for it.

As stated above, mouth guards do not protect against head injuries like concussions. They are only good for protecting your teeth. Wear a helmet and ski responsibly.

I'm a certified athletic trainer so this is some shit I know about.

Its pretty amazing how many people have been mislead to believe they help with concussions. There was ONE theoretical paper released that has lead to people thinking it will prevent a concussion because the force is dissipated on the rubber rather your face.... The rest of the evidence shows nothing.

i say strap less you can just put it in your pocket when you aren't trowing down i like them i tend to knee my self while flipping

ATC, I did take the EMT courses but never bothered with certification. I should have. There is some overlap but our scopes of practice are very different. Either way tho I can help a hurt homie.

I would definitely consider wearing just a tapout one or some other strapless option. but if you got a strap one where would you put it? its not like lacrosse or football where you have a facemask to attach it to...

I need to get one i have had some bad hits that were nothing but shit and i always bite my tongue I know banks weres one sometimes

Chipped my front tooth last year from catching my tips doing a backflip, kinda wished I was wearing a mouth guard although even if I had one I probably wouldn't be wearing it because I wasn't throwing down anything special.
