Mouthguard?

okay so today i over rotated a back flip landed on my back and smack the back of my head pretty hard. Anyways i got a bad pain and started forgetting things the whole day is a bit of a blur. Anyways my question is, would a mouth guard prevent or at least take the some of the effect away? And how well does it stay in your mouth while skiing?

i think it would help prevent some types of concussion, because often that occurs when the jaw is suddenly closed and then that energy is transferred to affect the brain via the teeth, or so i am told.
I wear one when i am playing rugby, you have to, and it does help in hard tackles or when you thumped in the face, but i think in skiing you have a real danger of getting a mouthguard caught in your windpipe, doing flips and shit -
Being upside down can't be good for keeping it in your mouth, i think the dangers outweigh the benefits on this one....

you can get custom ones made to fit snug and flush with your teeth. If your gunna get one, i would reccomend going that route

Mine falls out of the time when I am playing hockey, it just gets your teath a little cold! If you buy one buy one that is $15 to $20, just for the reason it will stay in better if you boil it and read the directions. Reebok probably makes the best low profile mouthgaurds out there.

I remember seeing on TV at some competion (dew tour maybe) they were wearing mouthguards. If you are plannign on throwing down really hard, I'd probably wear one, but I wouldnt wear it around just skiing most of the time

Yeah I rock a mouthguard pretty much anytime I ski, unless it's the local night skiing place. But it definitely helps against concussions. Try to grab one that has the rubber string that you can attach to your jacket, so you don't have to worry about making sure to grab it every time you spit it out. Mine just dangles until I'm at the top of the lift, then it goes back in. I don't have sensitive teeth, so the cold doesn't bother me, but it definitely does freeze up until like 20 seconds after putting it back in.

just buy a cheap one you boil and them chomp on, then if you loose it is no big deal. they work really well and if you boil them right they will stay in your mouth no problem. its what all d-1 football teams give their players, unless they have a history of concussions.

i got mine made by my dentist and its amazing. i like its not a pain at all can talk fine and dosent freeze or whatever dont really notice it skiing either. and i wish i woulda got it earlier because there pretty effective against concussions. dont get a cheap one though they suck.

Slammed hard last week and got a concussion, interesting week in classes trying to remember shit.
but I'd say a mouthguard would help, it makes sense when you think about it.

ive seen a few videos of comps and whatnot where i have seen a pro take one out or noticed they were wearing one. not a bad idea if youre throwing flips and shit.

Ive seen a load of pros wearing them, it's a great idea. I wear mine when i play hockey but never skiing, it's just a great annoyance! It is custom made but it still manages to fall out and piss me off. I would defo say that it helps when you eat shit hard but in my case its a right pain!

i boiled a football mouthguard after i bit through my tongue a couple years back. don't use it anymore though because i'm not a huge pussy (oooooh shit!)
