i just wanna check if im doin it the same way a shop would be. use the line on the bottom of the boot to line up the mounting position, drill holes slightly smaller than the screw and tape off the bit to make sure you dont go too far, and use a little bit of wood glue, and remounts have to be 1 cm away from the old holes...ive done it once but it was on urbans so i want to make sure i dont fuck up mine this year
 
sounds pretty good, the only time i did my own skis was on some ninja turtle skis i got at the dump and had to remount... they snapped anyway but I dont think it had anything to do with the mounting. do you not have a trustworthy shop near you or do you just like learnin how to do stuff?
 
yes i know how to adjust forward pressure and i want to mount/remount 3 skis for myself and 1 that i owe to a friend and its 40 bucks at the local shop so no i dont want to pay 160 dollars when ive mounted myself before and am pretty positive i can do it. one of my good friends mounts his every year and thats all hes done with them and never had any problems and also yes i do like learning/doing new things. so that being said can anyone see anything i am missing? and do you know if theres a good type of glue i should use cause i didnt use that the last time i did it i just figure any wood glue would work. lastly for the fear that if something happens and they do rip out im not really afraid of that cause we ski in new york and have tiny jumps so theres no need for a din that is high at all so they all should eject just fine.
 
^yea i do a test on a old ski before to make sure its right...if i fucked that up on new skis id kill myself

 
your method sounds pretty good i work at a local shop and thats how we do it (with a jig though) But if the skis have been drilled twice or three times already they'll probably snap no matter what so if there older be extra careful
 
only one have been drilled and its really ok if they fall apart i just need them to last part of the season...shouldnt they be fine as longs as i glue then and mount a cm or two away from the old holes tho?
 
definetly if you can get your hands on some plugs go to a shop and ask for some binding hole plugs (if they're cool they should just give you some) and then throw some glue even elmers is fine in the holes and put those plugs in there and using a rubber hammer pound em in the shave off the excess with a razor or something and then you should have no problems at all with your core getting worked
 
Yea any ski that has already been mounted is severely weaker. If you look at a stress strain diagram (which you can google) it shows that poplar wood 1 cm in width, much like the average ski, is almost 50 percent weaker when it as been altered (or a piece removed). That is why I never ever remount skis and always buy them new. Once a ski has been remounted it loses warranty too. If the original mount fucks up the shop may be liable and if they do it wrong you get a new ski. Its not that you or anybody cant do it, but if they fuck it up, they pay for it. not you. If your gonna do it yourself jsut be cautious, and know they once a ski has a hole in it or 4 or 6 from a previous mount, it is half as reliable as it once was.
