I was just trying to see if anyone knows where the best spot to mounting some fatty skis for powder/ bacountry. I've been either hearing 3cm back from center or at mounting at core center.

I have the jp vs juliens and I was wondering where the best spot to mount would be.

-5.5 (as recommended by JP himself) go on the armada site and check out the JP interview he says how he mounts his skis and stuff.

If you don't plan on riding fakie at all, mount at the recommended point, if not further back. If you plan on doing any fakie riding, then mount closer towards the center. This varies between skis/companies.

Best way to find suggestions on where to mount your skis: Search bar.

i have hellbents and im stuck on where to mount them, thinking like +5

but im not sure, i want to mount them as close to center as possible without having to lean back at all.

i never understood why mounting points are referred to as +5 or +4 from true centre, when infact arent you mounting BACK from true centre, in which case shouldn't it be -5 or -7????!

it's referring to forwards from core center, the point that is the recomended mounting point, where the core is thihckest, the sidecut is skinniest and the ski is built to be mounted at.

it makes mroe sense to talk about mounting back from true center when talking about newschool ski mounting points...

I.E. my made'ns are mounted +5.5 from core center, -4 from true center. I like them there.

the recomendedmounting point varies with each ski which is why it makes more sense to talk about back from true center.

nice explanation, karma. the quoting thing is messed.

I wouldn't mount center if you're not going to be doing a lot of switch

in the pow. find a nice spot in between recommended and center.
