Mounting question

What is the big deal with mounting bindings so close to true center? I have mine mounted standard on my troublemakers. This is 5.5cm back from true center. What negatives could this have? I know all my previous skis and skiboards were never mounted at true center. Actually, one pair of skiboards I used was mounted in the center and I hated it.

Well, if you like to ride switch all the time or you ride park most of the time, true center is good because when you spin, your skis are weighted evenly on both sides. This will make the ski feel quicker and lighter in the air due to equal weight distribution. For the majority of people though, a couple of cm back from true center is the best way to go.

technically weight still wont be evenly distributed around the centre point of the ski, even at true centre. This is because the heelpiece of the binding will weigh more than the toepiece. Mounting a little in front of centre can actually make the balance distribution even closer to even. I have never done this i am merely making the point. I prefer true centre but only because I ride all symmetrical skis..

Skiing is officially extreme. Im giving you a 10/10 karma rating because your the first person to mount forward of true center. This is history in the making NS!

Yes even though the heelpiece weighs more than the toe, it is so close to the spinning axis it doesnt have a huge influence. A few grams at the ends of the ski has much more leverage than towards the center.
