Mounting point

I’m thinking about getting the new K2 omen 90’s. I’d say I do 70% park the rest all mountain. I was just wanting insight on center mounting or going like -1 back. I just wanted to feel comfortable riding switch, riding rails, spinning etc.

Last season I was -2 and my tails still felt really short with pivots

If the only way to make your tails "long enough" is mounting center then your skis are too short.

No. Go true center.

You’re all over the map. You’re going on and on about mounting true center then in other threads recommending skis with -5 and -6 mount points for park. Lol

That’s because skis are designed for different mount points. Freeride and carving skis are going to be designed to be mounted further back anywhere from -5 to -10+ cm.

freestyle skis are designed to be mounted close to center for evenly distributed swing weight, rail balance, and riding switch.

in this case he clearly is buying a freestyle ski and wants to do park, therefore center would be best.

also there are plenty of freestyle skis that are designed to be mounted -4. Look at the specs for the line blend, chronic 94, armada ARV, and jskis all play.

Except the Wildcat and deathwish lines are freestyle skis and not intended to be mounted anywhere near center.

Lots of ignorance in this thread. Asymmetrical skis are not designed to be ridden center mounted. It messes with the sidecut, turns feel hooky, and it feels like you are overpowering your skis. A little forward? Fine. True Center? If its not a full symm ski or you ski rails or ski switch 95% of the time, not worth. I tend to go 1 or 2 in front of rec depending on the ski. Trust me as someone who has had an ego before and center mounted all sorts of stuff then regretted it- Just go rec or maybe +1 or 2 from rec. Your experience on the rest of the mountain will greatly outweigh the benefit you may get from center mounting.

This thread is a good read: https://www.newschoolers.com/forum/thread/931441/Mounting-Point--Not-a-Huge-Deal

Nobody here arguing. The guy asked for advice and me and other people are providing our opinions. And 1cm does make a difference otherwise manufacturers wouldn’t invest the money it takes to test skis at different mount points.

you said you recommended true center then some people said some other recommendations and then you replied to their recs by just saying to go true center. Argument: an exchange of diverging or opposite views. 1 cm would only make a difference if you were doing tricks with 100% consistency in the way you did them, but nobody does that, everyone makes small adjustment to keep balance. yeah there will be a very very slight difference but its nothing you cant subconsciously account for.
