Mounting JP vs Juliens

mount them 89cm from tail. theres a lot of bindings out there that will be good. i'd suggest a salomon STH16 as it will make it a real light setup. or a Look/rossi preferably FKS but they do have a small screw pattern

Avoid FKS at all costs (only on this ski, I love FKS on other skis)...the core of the JP vs. Julien is not very dense at all, which is why it can be so light and so long at the same time. The FKS is the worst binding for this ski, they are the most likely to rip out and leave you kicking yourself...get the STH 12, wider Solly screw pattern, pretty burly, particularly for a 12 DIN clamp, and very light to compliment the JP's weight. Get those.

get some earley 90s racin bindings from ur local garbage and mount them at +20 from true centre

but honestley how can we hlep if we dont know ur personnel stats and what u ski

yeap

Question...I got a pair of JP vs. Juliens and am looking to pick up a pair of STH12's for them. Should I get the 100mm brake size right (and just stretch it wider slightly) or get the 130mm brake? I was thinking the 100mm would be fine and shouldn't have any problems.

It's actually 103mm underfoot. But 3mms doesn't really make that much of a difference. Get the 100mm brake, you probably hardly have to bend them. DO NOT even think about getting the 130mm one. Brakes that are too wide can lead to problems. I switch my ARG brakes out onto my Thugs (haven't got brakes for those yet) and the extra room on either side causes them to catch each other sometimes. It is especially dangerous when skiing switch. You have to be super careful.

Word. You posted exactly what I was thinking so, good. Thanks for the input, I figured it wouldn't be any problem since its only a few mm difference.

Duncan, I also got some JJs! I was thinking about just putting on a pair of Jibs, I hate Salomon bindings. I am running low on time though, I need to get these mounted asap.

Okay...question again, bad news. Called Salomon, they are out of stock of STH12 & 16 for the season. They have the Z12s in stock. Are these absolute crap? Would they be good on these skis? I can get a discount if I go directly though Salomon and I really don't wanna spend an extra $150-200 to buy through a retailer. Thanks.

Eh, I think it's basically the same toe, but the heel is a lot different (wormscrew, metal), depends on how big you are and how hard you ride, etc.

Just get fks and save your knees. If they really do rip out just warranty them or something. Or go to the shop that mounted them and pretend it was their fault for not putting in glue or something.

Dont get get fks. I had a salomon pattern rip out in the heel and its far bigger than that of an fks. on an unrelated note, my jp broke in half the other day

Yeah, Armadas have no reinforced binding plate so FKS would be more likely to rip. I'm sure I've seen JP using them inthe past though. I'd epoxy them if you did get FKS.

To answer - no do not get z12's, they changed the heel on the STH to include metal housing for the two rear screws, every pair of salmonons besides 916's that have the same shitty plastic housing have broken. If you ride hard, it will break

plus three from suggested is money

and i have some rossi scratch bindings on them, with the non turnable heel

not as good as fks but will not rip out on you

ive got 188 jps mounted 2 back from center with mojo 15s and they are amazing they blow my mind. you can still charge hard on them in the pow and have good even swing weight

I have a pair of this years JJs mounted 3 back from center i might have wanted to go 4 but i put the jesters on them and i love em' works great in the pow got to test em out when summit got 3 feets

i mounted mine dead center but i havnt been able to ride them very much. from what i have been able to ride they feel great
