Mounting Assistance

I just purchased a pair of 161 4frnt msp 09/10 models (picking them up today)

Mounting them with 09/10 Salomon sth 16 bindings that got shipped in today( less than 16 hours from time of order till they were on my door step BIG PLUS to backcountry.com

My question is how should i mount them. i am 5' 5" 130 pounds.

I am using them as a more park oriented ski thus the length

The reason i am asking is cause i have had ppl tell all different types of things coming for all different reasons. So i thought i would try to get some help from my friends here at newschoolers.

And please educated insight only. No 15 yearold dumbasses who have no idea what the FUCK they are talking about.

how should you mount them or where should?

You should go to a ski store and get a qualified tech to mount them. You should get the mounted at ski center or the suggested mounting point.

i meant to put 140 and i am aware of this it is not my first time buying skis or bindings. i am a very aggresive park skier.

9-16 will be fine

i am not asking how to mount them. but "where" to mount them. i was planning on mounting them at center but have heard mixed reviews as far as mounting goes on the msp. Was just curious to hear if anyone has owned or know someone who has owned the same skis as the ones i have just purchased and if they had any advice to give.

as far as the bindings go. i do realize that thasey are MUCH higher than what i might need. but got an extremely good deal on them.

Seeing i will keep them at min. din of 9. will they not suffice?

just take back the bindings or try to trade them in cause no ski shop that has decent techs will release them to you even at min din. its all liability. i dont even need a 16 din binding i only need a 14 at most i am 6'1 160. good luck with that and say good bye to your knees when you fall hard.

i mean they'll work i guess but it's just not a very good idea and you'll be better off with a 12 din binding

what if you never lose your skis and need to turn the din down a bit? just saying, sth12's are always cheaper than sth16's so i don't see how the deal was epic

I am mounting them tomorrow and will just keep them at min din. have already talked to multiple ski techs that have said it will be fine as long as i keep them at 9 and 10.

If i do decide these are two high. i will return these for the exact same bindings but instead getting the 12 din.

I have skied salomon bindings before and kept those at 10.

But what type of binding i need is not in question. i was just looking to get advice as where to mount my skis in referance to true center.

Mount half-way between recommended factory midsole and true center ... Should be a nice balance of all mountain and park performance ...

keep in mind that the sth12 is a 3 screw toe whereas the 16 is 4 screw so additional drilling will be required if you switch, but you seem to have your mind made up

you're height to din deal scares me but thats up to you. i really really don't recommend you riding with bindings as low as they can go but anyways here it goes. i like my park skis centered because i ride switch just as much as i ride forwards. i love the control that the center mount gives me. BUT i have to keep them on edge because they like to sway back and forth a little. also less experienced skiiers have a tendancy to lean back on centered up skis for some reason. i don't think you'll have that problem. if you want the same amount of control switch as forwards go centered. also i like the balance that centered up symetrical skis have. it's really up to you. you might wanna go 1 or 2 cm's back from true center just to be safe. they are easier to control forwards that way. don't get true center and core center mixed up tho. they are diff on most skis. hope this helps.

yeah first try to work on getting yourself some new bindings. where to mount them it depends, as matt says on tech talk every week mount them at recommended. Im guessing on these skis recommended is at about -5 back from the actual center of the ski. Now if you plan to ride only park with them mounting them at say -3 per say would not be bad but if you really don't ski switch much then it wount really matter.

yeah well you claim to ski harder than god himself but i think you're just an idiot and gonna fuck up your knees

Definitely try to get some lower DIN bindings, I've always been told don't run in the bottom or top 2 DIN numbers. By that logic you sholdn't run them less than 11 DIN. And that is WAY too much for you. I'm

6'1", 225lbs and rock a 12 on FKS.
