Mounting 2011 Line Blend

I just bot a pair of 173 Line Blends as my everyday (other than big pow) ski. I'll be skiing everything from park, trees, bumps and groomers on these and want to know where people have mounted their skis and how they like them. I also have a pair of Obsethed that I mounted +4.5 from reccomended and I am coming off a pair of Chronics mounted at -3 from true center. Thanks in advance!!

had my 2011's mounted at 2 cm's back from center. they're pretty awesome like that. i even toured with them and they were great. highly recommend that spot.

I skied on a pair of 178's mounted at center and they were so much fun. Still blasted through mash potato spring snow and were super playful. I would really recommend center, the tip and tails are pretty soft so having the extra stability on back is great. They also floated nicely through a pond haha so you shouldn't have to worry about pow float too much.

They weren't the rockered model, but the 08/09 model that I had (183cm), I mounted mine at -2 from center.

Used it as an all mountain ski, worked well for the occasional pow days.

mounting non symmetrical skis at center is retarded... especially if you want to ski outside the park. Mount them at the recommended line. LINE does a good job with those recommendations, you had best listen if you want to get the most out of those.

For the people that mounted theirs -2 u mean -2 from true center right? And what does the mark on the blends mean that says mid-sole?

False. If you can't ski center mounted out of the park, you better take some lessons. Idk about you, but I wouldn't mount my park ski anywhere but center, especially not 8 cm back.

Ironically... I teach ski lessons... its my job; and although I am by no means the best instructor out there, I would like to believe that I know quite a bit about the mechanics of skiing and ski equipment. Also, I never said I couldn't ski center mounted skis outside of the park, and in fact I ski Lizzies and EPs at -2 (recommended) everyday. Thats pretty much center. (but it is also at the suggested line.)

Line Blends are not symmetrical. The OP clearly described the intended use as all mountain.

But by all means give me ANY good or technical reason why a non symmetrical ski should ever be mounted dead center, I would love to hear it. Personal opinions don't cut it.

If you are using it for park, it should be center mounted. Why buy a non symmetrical ski for park if you want center mount you say? Well, there is a much larger selection of skis that will fit someone's preference in the asymmetric category. There are not alot of symmetrical skis out there that fit what someone wants. Tell me of a ski with the same flex pattern that skis similar to the Blend with similar dimensions. That's right, it doesn't exist. Also, by your logic, a ski should only be mounted at recommended. So saying to mount them even at -2 would be hypocritical. This annoys the shit out of me, when people say that mounting center ruins the ski but mounting -2 won't. And yes, you are skiing close to center, but you are skiing on the recommended line so it is easier to ski. I have no problem skiing my 08 chronics (recommended is -6, absolutely ridiculous mounting place for a park ski) center mounted.

OP also stated he would be using them in the park. Therefor, I recommended center mounting. He said he will not be skiing them in big pow. Blends do perfectly fine all over the mountain mounted at center. The benefits in the park greatly outweigh any "negatives" of skiing all mountain.

Knuckles, not knowing what you are talking about is fine, but arrogantly blabbering on about it is pretty lame. You are going to end up making skiing less fun for someone besides yourself.

And you still did not point out any benefits to mounting a ski center... still waiting...

Knuckles, I found a choice quote of yours in another thread about rocker...

"More ski in the tail is much better for stability."

This is true if you ski in the backseat. But skiing in the backseat is bad for stability.

You clearly have no idea what you are talking about...

Please stop giving people advice when you have no clue.

Mt_Baker_Man, you are clearly a fucking retard. If you read the rest of that thread, I stated that I realized what the OP was talking about. I do not ski in the backseat. Yes, more tail is better for stability in some situations (park, stomping cliffs).

Also, nice job spelling my name. And why is center mounting better? FOR PARK. The OP wants to ski in the park. THE BENEFITS IN THE PARK CLEARLY OUTWEIGH THESE SO CALLED "NEGATIVES" OF MOUNTING CENTER FOR ALL MOUNTAIN. I mean jesus christ. Yes it is my opinion that I like it better, I mount everything center basically. I like the way it skis. Having more tail gives you more stability on groomers if you have ever hit a bump or anything that has tossed you. Blends are soft skis. I wouldn't want a short ass soft tail, its going to wash out easier if you charge harder.

Please refrain from anger and vulgarity.

And you still haven't clearly defined any specific benefits derived from a center mount on an all mountain ski.

BTW: Your comment about stability on groomers clearly demonstrates you have no clue.

Yeah, I was looking for something like that. "balanced swing weight" could have been a good one too.

But, I still think, that since the OP did not say that they would be exclusively used in park, dead center is a very bad idea.

Ok, NUCKLES has the right idea, but is saying it in a forceable way. let me help him out.
at -1, you will notice no difference, at -2, you might notice some. (i ski my pow skis at -2)
If you have a pow ski, i would recommend mounting them at center. they will ski better in the park this way, and with a wide-ish ski, with a solid shovel, early rise, and a super soft symmetrical flex, they will be fine and fun in everything else.
Depending on your mix of park and pow, pick either -2 or more (-2 is about as close as i would go to center if you are skiing any more pow than a 50-50 split with park) or dead center. at -1, you get no benefit over -2, or dead center. its literally one centimeter.
So, QUICK REVIEW:
Mostly park: I recommend center
At least 50% not park: i recommend 2+ cm back from center

I have my blends mounted +4 from centre but I use them for big mountain/pow and then I have different pair for park, if I were u I would mount them centre cause u have ur pow skis

I mounted them -2 from center also measured as +5.5cm from recommended on the 173 ski, and I am very happy with them there. They have skied great so far in everything from bumps, 3" of fresh, jumps and rails and even groomers. Like I said I have a pair of 2011 Obsethed's mounted at +4 from reccomended that I ski on days with 6" or more. I have been skiing for over 25 years and have been mounting my ski at or near center for the past 7 or 8 years. I'm more comfortable skiing at or near center for skiing switch and for the swing weight benefit!

Sitting at work laughing my ass off about this thread... Some clear benefits of mounting true center?

- They're going to ski 10x better switch.

- Spin weight is going to be even

- You will be centered on the rail having even amounts of tip and tail off the rail

Would you like me to keep going? There are a ton more reasons why someone would want to mount them center.. Im not going to disagree that its the WORST but im not going to AGREE that its the best... Everyone has their own opinion..

I mount ski's for a living and I explain these things to people EVERY day! Just thought I'd give a little input since I'm mounting a pair true center right now!

If your like most park skier's and land switch or take off switch 50% of the time or more then it's crazy to mount them anyway but center. But if you just cruze around in the park and don't go switch too much then -2cm would be fine.
