Mounted my own skis....

So i go to my shop today(that i work at) and they let me mount my own sticks! Sick, i was pumped. Now i have never done it before on a pair of good skis, but i know how to do it. I get there and, looking at my skis, the bit needed is a 3.5/9.5.

Ok, cool. Easy as that. Buuuuttttt, they didnt have it. I decided to go with a 3.6/9. Closest one i could find without making the diameter/depth go waaayyyy too big.

So i drill them just fine and i go to mount them, and to my pleasant surprise, they screw in just fine! No bubble in the bases at all. Like a fucking champ. So pretty much, i am never paying for mounting again.

Any other experiences like this?

And btw, they are 07/08 Rossi Ghetto's and FKS 155's

yea they bits range from 3.5-3.6x9-9.5 depending on the manufacturer. my main advice is to always screw bindings in by hand so you dont strip the holes

Length of the bit really is determined by the thickness of the ski. The diameter on the other hand, is determined by the ski material. As a general rule, if the ski has metal in it, use 4.1. regular wood core, 3.6.

Again that is just a general rule.

yeeaahh i mounted my JJ's myself. first pair of skis i have ever mounted, all the techs were bussy and really wanted them mounted (work at a shop too). was sooooo scared id fuck them up, replacing them would have been reeaaally hard and expesive as fuck. now it just needs to snow more so that i can take them out without putting some big core shots in em.

u pretty much have to have a jig and the right bit u will want to use a 3.5/9 if the skis dont have metal if they do u will want to use a 4.6/9. its pretty tuff if u dont have the right stuff if u do its way easy
