Mountainbike or bmx

I know you have but I was posting cuz it didnt make any sense that being in a city is the only excuse to ride a bmx...it is not. You can take your bmx to the dirt track. I know what the thread is asking but everyone is making something up to diss BMX (which is not what the thread was asking for) so I'm just setting the record straight.

i do both and everytime i get off one bike and get on the other, i've improved. there both have their pluses and are sick as hell!

i like urban bmx. but thats because i can't afford a bmx bike. anybody have any bmx bike u can sell me for under 200

i prefer mountain biking much much more. you can go anywhere and do anything! like skiing you are expected to develop skills in all the facets weather it is trail riding, downhill, tricks, jumping, you have to learn a much wider set of skills. bmx is sweet they do a lot harder tricks. but now freeride is picking up alot of those and doing them over 50 foot gaps so it is a little more dangerous.

oh by the way i have a 04 santa cruz bullit that is completely decked out i gaurantee better than your roomates for 2,800 if you want to buy it. the price is low because it is a little over a year old but i have kept it in perfect condition. if anyone wants it e-mail me or message me and i will get you pictures and info

I agree with you with pretty much everything except I say mtb are a little less functionnal in cities since they are so big. And second thing I think mtb and bmx are both equally dangerous. Like take a roof gap on a bmx you dont have that 5 inches of travel on your fork nor do you have travel on your tail like mtbikes have...If the hit is too hard you'll crack you frame on a bmx and end up face first on the stem. But on a mtb the fork will take the hit.

the problem with mtb is it costs so so much more. in order for it to be practical in the city you have to buy another bike so that part kinda sucks.

yeah i suppose so. i am always amazed at how big they go on bmx bikes without any travel. if you land something wrong it hurts. you have to be ridiculously smooth and calculated.

I guess each have its own plus and down sides. Last week I saw a mtb video I was so amazed to see how mtb has progress since its beginning and how big everything is now (they even make BIG wallrides for mtb that's sick).

Bmx is still progresing too (triple tailwhips, bikeflip variations, nice rails combos...).

mtb all the way...although BMX is definitely alot of fun for urban riding, mtb just has so many more options (urban, DH, XC, etc).

I'm sticking with my 26"

Yeah I agree that's sick and all but I bet you didn't see the BMX event they had after that did ya? Blew my fucking mind.

BMX can be just as expensive as MTB. I'm building a BMX bike right now and all the parts cost me $750, plus I got half the stuf on ebay for less than half what it costs in a shop. Total about $1300. BMX has racing, street, park, trails. MTB has XC, downhill and i guess urban now. Both sick.

and yeah mtn. biking is definately way expensive. Im riding a 04 titus titanium which cost me 3600. But also road and BMX are expenseve...I mean my road bike is a trek 2300 and cost just about the same...they are all fucking expensive.

MTB for sure, although i can't honestly give most people credit for drops unless they ride a hardtail. (there are exceptions, of course) and just look at the crazy boardwalk/trails though b.c., and other places as well. its just redicoulous. like comparing park rats like dumont with big mountain rippers like hugo harrison. while the park rat looks good and has style, everyone wishes they could ski like hugo.

dude, 1300 dollars will barely get you a decent fork for mountain biking. i am not saying that to make mtb seem badass cause its so expensive, but a complete bike for 1300 dollars is super cheap.

its like alpine and freestyle. there similar but completely different. mountainbikers thing bmxers are fags and bmxer things mountainbikers are fags....aplpine'rs think freestylers are fags and freestylers think alpine'rs are fags

yeah mountain biking is better then bmx...

i used to bmx and now i mountain bike race cross country, i freeride, dirtjump and rode bike... mountain biking is the best

Haha are you retarded? 1,300 bucks will get you one of the best forks out there. Yes 1,300 is cheap for a COMPLETE bike (and that's talking about full suspension, freeride/dh) but you can easily get frames that cheap, or get a complete XC full, dirtjump or street bike for that much. Don't be pulling large numbers out like that.

I prefer mountain bikes especially a good dh rig, but props to hardcore bmx'ers, they go huuggeee

its all about style if u ask me...i prefer mountian biking cause im better at it, but a bmx can be really cool if u have good style and can do cool stuff on a bmx, but its the same for mountian biking if u have good style then it can be cooler than bmx....
