Im in the market for a bike, just looking for some suggestions.

Last summer my work gave me a Brodie Thumper Duel Suspension to ride. That basicly the only good bike i have ridden.

I think i want a hard tail and here is where i mostly ride:

Urban - Jumping Stairs, manuals, jibbing baciclly, need somthing light and ollie's good, and won't brake.

Alot of Cross-Country riding, but i want to get into a little more downhill, but nothing serouis nothin that i'll need a dual suspension $2500 bike for.

Suggestions?

they run about 600 canadian i think

for urban check out the specialized p.3. i ride only urban and dirt jumping, and it holds up great. its fairly light for its quality, and you cans still 3 on it of jumps.

the .243s all have the same geo, theyre just built stonger/more gusseted for the dh and fr versions, but theyd be a decent bike for what you seem to wanna do. same with the specialized p series, and those would probably be a bit cheaper.

im assuming youd want a hardtail...?

Definately the specialized, I know a couple guys who picked up the p3 this year and it rides super well. Only complaint is with the front fork from merzocchi(sp?), one of the guys has had to send it back twice because its been leaking.

its my friends and its insane, he has my skis and boots and was messing around now i have his racing bike.

im joking by the way i would not sell it

yeah i think i want a hard tail....

the thumper was fun for dropping sets and what not, but it was a pain in the ass to just ride around on, and was heavy as sin. I think i could do everything was doing on a beefed up hardtail and it would actually be way better.

That Cruz bike is way outta my price range, and i want a hardtail.

The specialized p series looks pretty dope. Depending on where i work i might be able to get a deal on Gary Fisher or Specialized... unless i clean windows this summer. lol.

I think this years Cannondale chase 1 would be perfect, amazing for dj and urban and would handle cross country well (but so will any bike that isn't single speed). The only downside to this years Chase 1 is the Sram XO derailer, that's just overkill for an urban bike. It's like a $200 derailer.

The specialized P3 or P3 would also be a perfect match for you.

except he wants a hardtail.

as for an urban bike. I have a specialized Hardrock sport (500cdn) and i love it. Ollies so easy, its pretty light, just overall awsomeness. Needs metal pedels though, i cracked mine last year right at the end of the summer.

crummy pic but here is the jist of it

no offense, but the hardrock sport is far from an urban bike. im kind of sick of people thinking that they are because the frames top tube slants downward like an urban bike, making it easy to wheelie, bunny hop...whatever. The frame however will never take the abuse, nor will the components. If you want an actual urban bike and dont have that much money to spend look at the Chase 2 or 3, or the P1 or P2. If you have more money look at the banshee urban bike, i cant remember the name off the top of my head, or .243, or anything evil bikes.....just make sure the frame and wheels are strong as hell if you plan on true urban riding.

also the giant stp is an awesome bike, and really cheap. i was actually about to get one a little while ago. and dont get a hardrock, unless xc is your main thing and you just wanna do a little street on the side

Check out the GT Ruckuys hardtail, if you wanna ride cross country also and do urban, I rode mine urban mainly and then just switched up wheelsets pulled the seat tube up and raced it CC alot.

This bike is awesome!! If you've got the money it makes a perfect dirt jump, urban bike. It was designed for just what your talking about:)

This is a great starter frame if your not sure about what you want, but still want a good frame for cheap.

The first picture I posted is the head tube of this bike.

2. Is a Addict bike

3. Is a Black Market

4. Is a Azonic Frame

go check out Rhythmcycles.com (they have all of these frames and are having a blowout on the Azonic frames. It is a great shop!)

phatmoosecycles.com they'll send it to u too, thye have a lot of unknown brands that are completely sick, depending where you are most stores have an online catalogue

well he's wrong...but maybe its just because I hate hardtails...but the p3 is the king of beasts, I have the P2 for dirt jumping, and its the best hardtail I've ever ridden

if you don't know what you want ask the boys are rhythmcycles.com they are a downhill/freeride shop. they have dirt jumps outside there shop, thats all they do. they can help you and unlike any other shops they are specific to downhill/freeride/urban assault.

addict cycles out of colorado, its a sick bike. i've ridden every hardtail out there (including all the ones that have been mentioned in this post) and this is one of my favorites:)

yeah i agree. My first specialized was that exact bike, and it sucked. Cheap suspension, and i broke the derailer and the crank set in the first 3 months.

haha

im def not gonna just get a bmx frame.... im not JUST doing urban, i still need something that i can point down the hill and get some decent response.

Thanks for all the advice peeps!!

i'll see what i can pull off $$ when i get back into my hometown for the summer.

the marins are pretty decent...the b-17 is what im riding this season. pretty damn nice. i rode the marin northside trail last year and it was perfect for urban.

u amy think this is a gay bike but i jsut use my old hardrock for street stuff jsut get a better fork on the front its soo light its def my fav bike ever

i have a kona stuff and i love it

burly enough for jumps gaps drops urban anmild downhill but light and nimble enough for xc trails
