Mountain High Resort?

Hey NS,

So im thinking about hitting up Mountain high in Wrightwood over the holidays. I will already be in S. Cali, and would love to get some skiing in. Has anyone ever checked this place out? I spoke to a snowboarder, and he said it was awesome. However, after looking at the website, they dont mention skiing a whole lot. Obviously this isnt a "snowboard only" resort, but do skiers ever go there? Am i gonna be flying solo if I am there over the holidays?

Im also not planning on bringing my skis, thats a bit much for only one day out. So I was hoping they have high performance rentals, like twin tips. Does anyone know? If they dont, is there a shop near by that does? Thanks for any help. +k for hate

my friend that moved to cali skis there now, it doesn't sound like there are a whole lot of skiers but they have tons of jibs and jumps so it could be a good time anyway.

is that really your home mountain? Do you want to shred together or something? Im thinking about going on the 30th, let me know if that sounds good. Thanks man

lots of jibs and lots of snowboarders.
some skiers do go there though, but were the minority for sure. but check it out, you'll have fun

where do you normally go? i see you live in LA, what else is in the area to ski?

Also, Im looking for stuff to do when im not skiing, you have any good ideas as far as places to eat and things to see ect?

+k to all, thanks guys

I actually just moved down here this year for college, so I don't really know LA too well yet. but you should go to santa monica if you can, lots of good food places and stores, plus it's just a sick area.
I've only been skiing once down here, and that was at Mt. High, but you can also go to Bear (there are two resorts there: bear mountain and summit i think), and bear is like 2 hours away. from what i've heard, it's quite a bit better than mt. high in terms of overall mountain quality. there's also mt. baldy, which is mad close, and i've heard it's super fun on a powder day.

This. I went to Mt.High for a couple days last year and the first day there were only 4 skiers on the entire mountain and hundreds of snowboarders. Super fun mountain though. They have jibs everywhere!!! Would love to go back one day!

I skied there for two seasons and ran into a total of 4 other skiers. It's a cool little mountain where everyone knows everyone. Their marketing manager at the time was a total dickbag towards skiers but other than that no one there had a problem with skiing... most people actually thought it was pretty cool.

there is an pretty solid respect for skiers at the mountain, as long as you dont snake anyone and do spinny things on rails.

straight. thanks guys. ill def try to keep the spinny things to a minimum on the rails haha....

still wondering if anyone knows a place to rent some twin tips....any help would be great. Thanks a bunch!

Any skier at High would be stoked to ride with you. There aren't many of us, so all the freeskiers tend to ride together. The mountain is a little bare right now, but the park crew says they're hoping to have another 50 footer up by January.

As for the twin tip rentals, I don't think there's anything near Wrightwood.

If I were you I would go to Bear thats my home mountain. Its much better than Mt high.Mt high is full of so cal bros.
