Mountain Biking

I'm on a local team in my town... Just wondering if any NS'rs are into MTB! Or downhill. I just don't see many bike posts, but it seems like a lot of skiers bike in the Off - season!

Favorite places?

not at all, but you should. I don't want to be a douche but an MTB thread was in NSG like less than a week ago. Do you need me to find it for you... People like you clog up NSG more than it already is. I am just trying to help out. Also this thread will answer your question. =)

i just got myself a new (used) so i'm really stoked on it currently. its a 2010 trek gary fisher marlin (26er, not a 29er) with decent enough components to last a while. i've been riding like every weekend on real trails, and almost daily on roads/local trails.

Sick!! I have a 2010 Marlin myself, but a 29'r. yeah that's the way to go, I try to get out as much as possible but Southern Mn doesn't give you much to work with!

mine is the only 26er i've seen, even on the internet. but i have some pretty decent trails, we have a solid organization called the wnymba who keeps the trails up/builds new ones, i'd like to help out but their trail days always seem to interfere with my work schedule. i also might consider trying some beginner level xc racing.

what is that? haha

i ride a 303 but i snapped my 40's in a crash so no more races till i get the money to buy new ones. stock photo for now :(

I have some old trek bike, but I love down hill, I live right on the side if a small mountain so I'm building a bunch of trails this summer, and hopefully getting a new bike

The Richi Hulk. Its built by a company in Germany and has two dampier shocks and the fork has 12 inches of travel. Weighs almost 60 pounds so its for downhill only. 100% bomb proof.

I just got my hands on a transition dirtbag and have been riding everyday since the snow melted! I cant wait for big sky to open so i can go shred!

Just some picture off the internet, but I have a specialized hardrock bike. It is treating me well.

I am looking forward to riding this summer.

Fuck yeah love biking, I shred Whistler on my Knolly Del-T. Hopefully picking up the Knolly Podium this season

I know I feel like such a hipster riding it :) My dad has one of the forst bikes ever made my Knolly. His serial code is like 000007 or something on hos v-tech

i ride XC and dirt jumps. its what i do when im not skiing. Nice little edit of me from a while back...

Yeah man Im never giving up on Knolly. Too much quality to not quit on, ive only riden once this season but akiing just ended so its time to dust of the ol bike, cant wait

ya the local hill closed last summer so i really have no where to bike haha got to go to fernie/silver star/ whistler and moose mountain.

Fuck Fernie dont go if youre a jump guy or likes drops etc. they removed all there features because of a law suit some bitch made sueing the mountain cause she fell

My dad and I used to race DH for a bit. He was pretty good but a near fatal crash was the end of both of us racing. but i see movies like Life Cycles and it makes me want to pick it up again

I've got a Transition Vagrant that I just finished building last fall, never road dh or do all that much mountain biking before but I though it would be something fun to do once all the snows gone, if only this rain would let up

Heres just a picture from online

Been doing a lot of mountain biking. I'm more of a XC guy though. I love a good multi-hour granny gear climb, with a long flowy single track down. I prefer that my wheels stay on the ground 99% of the time.

I'm looking into buying a used 29er single speed, I'm 6' 0" with an inseam of about 25 inches. Is a 21 inch frame reasonable? I ride singletrack.

This thread inspired me to go ride some single track. had a freeeakin awesome day man, ate lunch on top of a cliff on the side of the lake. I know what Im doing more of this summer

Also, I am headed to Bend this weekend and was wondering what the best trails around that area are?

Make absolute sure to check out Phils Trailhead area. If you dont already know, thats where The slalom loop, the lair, the pumptrack, and traintrack jumps are, plus phils trail and whoops. definitely pick up a map of the area, its worth it. you may have to go exploring for a bit to find the lair as well.

As for skibowl, it would be pretty rough on you and your bike because it is a hardtail and skibowl is super rocky. lower bowl has 2 relatively smooth trails, but upper bowl is a bunch of pinned fireroads. theres also a freeride section in the trees at the bottom which is mad fun.
