Mountain Biking in Whistler

Im going up tmrw and i was planning to rent a downhill bike and go check out the bike park for 1/2 a day or a full day. A friend of mine who bikes was supposed to come but he has to work, so we'll be 2 novice bikers in the bike park. Is this a good idea, knowing we can both bike well but have never done DH, or is definetely worth it getting a guide and not just renting bikes?

(i didnt post this in the regional forums because not too many ppl look at them)

I'm hoping to do the same thing in August. I figure i'll just stick to easy runs until I get some balls to try out some medium ones.

whistler is pretty hardcore. I've never been, but i think you would have a better day if someone showed you around

Well then how would you know if you've never been? Douchebag.

Just stick to the easy runs, you'll be sweet bro.

the bike park is prolly too intense for you guys, i'd stick to the trails. My first time i started out on B-line(a blue trail) and then by the end of the day was hitting A-Line(black diamond trail). It's a lot of fun and try not to get in anyones way.

ya man go for it..its hella fun...just get a nice bike and dont piss anyonw off..and if u do who really cares,,,i fucked myself up last time i was biking there but its def worth the trip.

i like skiing

i remeber the first 2-3 runs i was goin slow and takin the turns slow and afraid to hit the trees. But you get use to it and then you start blazing down the trails. You realize its more fun to bank the turns and to make the landing of the jumps and you'll go faster. Just remeber to always stand up and use both breaks.

i tried it today and after the first run i realised i was gonna need 3000 bucks soon and get myself a friggin bike. We went the "let intrawest steal your money" way and paid $175cdn for 3.5 hours of riding with a guide, including equipment, but you could get full day rental and lift ticket for cheaper than that. And go on your own, the tours are useless and you need to slow down too much because you're in a group, and riding downhill is easy and so much incredibly fun, go out there and explore cant get lost...

its fun to cheef then go ride bikes in the metropark like in the stream and shit cause its like slate that has bumps and ridges but is totally rideable. there are some waterfalls....nothing to extreme though
