Mountain Biking in snow

I've seen a lot of videos of guys mountain biking in snow, and I think it looks really sketchy and really easy to slide out. Have any of you guys ever done it? How is it?

They used to do races in the spring at one of the mountains I worked at. Pretty badass.

I rode one around the bottom of the hill and base area a little but nothin compared to bombing the hill.

My friends used to do it but the city plowed all of the dh trails in a little forest by our house because it was "use of city land" or some shit. Anyway if you get the snow packed down it's not too bad.

I did a bit in Queenstown last year when it snowed down to the actual town.

It's super slippery but it is pretty fun if you can stay in control. If you really want to get into it you can drill screws outwards through a spiked tire.

I did it today. fucking fun is what is. if you are not an experienced rider it can get pretty sketchy, 21psi is the key for snow

I used to make bmx trails throught the snow in the srping. Pack that shit down. Made all kinds of jumps. The worst was when the sun baked it out and you crank into a snowbank and your front tire digs in and you get raped/

Anybody ever do that shit? Was so stoked to be on my bike even though the yard and everything else was still deep snow. (obviously didn't have a skatepark within hours)

Ive done it at my local ski center. I waited for it to rain, then freeze and took my Devinci Wilson down a green and the mini park. I got kicked out but it was worth it. My tip for riding in snow is: make sure its hard packed...or near ice conditions. That way, you will have more control.

The feeling is weird though, you wont feel that you lost control, until you lose control for no reason.

I've done it. Just at some spring races in April at the ski hill. It's incredibly fun.

Best thing about it, is that you're biking down, and you see all the tire tracks, then you see where it punches through the snow. From there there is nothing, then a imprint in the snow about 12 feet away from where the biker landed after punching through.

Fun stuff I tell you

hahah one year in february a buddy and I dug our bikes out and made a big jump out of a snowbank.... put plywood on it so not really on snow but it was a pretty fun kicker actually. probably one of the biggest DJ style jumps i hit back in my biking career...

my dad rides year round on the trails him and his friends maintain in NH. they stud their tires with small screws. some of them ride on pugsleys with modded front suspension. I've gone once and it was a blast!
