Mountain biking in slc

Bay shoreline trail is pretty cool above the avenues, theres a sweet dirt jumping track and the trails there are like a roller coaster
 
have u hit that up recently? i went there like a week ago and it sucked because there was a stream running down it.
 
the ridge ride from the summit of gardsmam's pass is absolutely killer. you can either ride down and end up across from the donut falls turn off in big cottonwood canyon or stay on the ridge a little longer and end up in millcreek canyon and then ride the pipeline trail and end up at the mouth of millcreek canyon. the whole ride is pretty long single track with alot of good down hill. the views are spectacular. desolation lake is awsome and you can ride to dog lake as well on this trail. pipeline in millcreek is pretty amazing. you need to shuttle a vehicle or get dropped off whether you end up in millcreek or stay in big cottonwood. pm me if you have questions on this ride. its a must do.
 
^^^the ridge trail is one of my personal favorites. But instead of dropping into millcreek or BCC, I usually go out to the canyons and drop into the PC side, take the mid mountain trail back to PCMR and then climb back to guardsman thru jupiter. The ridge trail is a killer ride and really gives you a sense of the canyon system through the wasatch with the exception of the southern wasatch and LCC.
 
i've never done it that way before - into pc. if you feel like it or have some free time. pm me some specifics on doing that loop. not sure where the mid mountain trail is. i would be intersted in riding that way sometime. guess you wouldn't need to shuttle that loop either.
 
last year when i was out there a buddy took me on Boblsled. It was a pretty easy ride, but super fun. It's really the only thing i've ever ridden though, other than the Northshore and urban stuff here in indiana. Do you guys ride hardtails or what? right now i'm on a Specialized Rockhopper, and don't know if i want a fully for when i move. any suggestions?
 
^^^^i guess its preferance. but with all the mt. trails around here i don't want to go back to a hard tail. i ride a full with a lock out on the rear end. real easy to switch in and out on the fly.
 
so, is there a pretty big scene of mountain bikers in SLC? Does the U have a bike club, or do any of you guys go to the U. I think i'm going there in August for school, and plan to do a ton of biking before school starts, and was curious if there is a cool group of people at the school to show me around.
 
BObsled is fun.... ITs alot of work for not alot of trail, but for sure a good time. I believe the trails ICE is scary is talking about is; i street trails. I jacked my elbow there last year and my buddy broke his. ITs a good time. SOme good beginner hits with a progression to more experienced riders
 
I Street Trails are located on I street in the avenues. Find I street and go north until you find huge field with a gate. Normally there are alot of cars there. Its on the left sied of the road. Get on the trail and you will see a water tank. Follow the water tank around and it will take you straight to the trails. i will look for some pics and post the link.
 
Yeah, I-street is the shit for dirt jumps around here. All the trails around the city like bobsled and such are fun too. PC has some crazy stuff. I can't bike for a while, though because I snapped my frame and I'm too poor to get a new bike.
 
theres a dj park in pc, tanner park and i-street are also sick for dj's. In PC theres some sick shit up at empire
 
Their are trails all over the place. The trail they are talkin about up guardmans is called the wasatch crest trail. You can go into millcreek canyon or park city or back into big cottonwood. You have to know where your going or you could endup in the wrong canyon. early season like this I-street, back behind the capitol and across the street from hogle zoo are some trails. Also the pipeline trail in millcreek canyon clears quik. There is also a trail up east canyon that comes down immigration. so basicly there are trails all over the damn place. you just need to know where to go or go get a book with all the trails in it.
 
i finally got to the i jumps. so sick. one of the best jump parks i have ever rode. that cliff to step up is so sick.
 
Is there a good bike book that has all of the stuff around SLC? I know there is the skiing book "The Chuting Gallery" and it's badass, but what about mtn. biking?
