heres the deal i have bmxed scince forever and i wanted to get into mountain bikin for a number of reasons. i need suggestions on a mountian bike. im lookin for a cheap bike that will hold up. any help here?
 
trail riding i guess but id like to be able to hit jumps and stuff. i am 6 foot 4 so that proboly effects which bike too

so are you gonna be riding singletrack-ish stuff or what? and you're probably gonna want clipless pedals.. theres a lot to consider. go to your local bike shop and ask them about it, they'll help you out
 
pinkbike.com has a lot of articles, adds, and a huge sellers forum to browse through. that would give you some ideas.
 
I agree with this statement, but I just built one for $3,200. So unless you want the bike to have really cheap parts you'll probably want to look elsewhere. Just say a price limit, where you ride, and your weight and I'm sure that myself or somebody else can help point you toward something.
 
i got my heckler for $1900 and the parts are definitely not cheap, shimano xt setup, deore cranks and brakes, float R rear shock and vanilla rlc fork, 2007 everything, so dank.
 
Yeah, I went for X-9 drivetrain, 36 RC2 fork and DHX 5.0 coil. Not cheap, but you can't put a price on fun!
 
he said hes gunna be doing osme trail riding and a few jumps. i dont think hes looking for a $2000 dh/freeride bike. id suggest something in the p.series
