Mountain bike half pipe?

this is crazy mountain biking has progressed so much in the last few years i thought it was post worthy
 
this is a repost, but it was quite a while ago, so no hate.
i don't like that its not an actual halfpipe though
 
at C.O.P. in calgary they have a huge snowpipe, and in the summer the base is left there as dirt, my buddies and i go into it on our bikes (you're not supposed to, but whatever) and do some mtb pipe. not nearly as sick as this, but then i'm talking about a real pipe as opposed to a pipe-shaped course.
 
When building dirt jumps, it helps if it rains, or you need to water them, because the water washes all the dust and pebbles that won't stick together out, and then helps the rest of the dirt solidify, a little bit like mixing concrete. Eventually the dirt gets so hard packed from riding it that the take-offs will pretty much shed water. If it rains hard, all the features need is a day or so of sun to dry out enough to ride, and they won't really lose their shape. I'm assuming that would be the case with this half pipe item.
That's a sick edit, but they could have gone easy on the slow-mo, I think.

Also, that's old news. NWD9 came out almost a year ago... still cool that you share with the non-bike savvy world, even though it's the equivalent of showing somebody on a bike forum parts of Slamina and hailing it as crazy new progression. Whereas, we know that the things in slamina that were really new aren't any more.
Still, the majority of NS has you to thank.
 
Ive seen this for bmx, and i guess that they just added dj bikes. bmx dj and mnt bike dj are basically the same thing anyways. watever, super sick vid in any case.

Was that the video where he crashed at that last turn and was WAY ahead? that was ridiculous, he had it, he could have sat down and taken that turn easy and still come out on top.
 
yeah that was the run... he was almost 7 seconds ahead and washed out and still came in half a second off the top time...

hes just on another level

Massive overreaction. That came as a complete surprise as i was reading through this thread. I expected some sort of retaliatory response, but nothing like that. Like people have said, you're representing companies, try to present yourself a little better. Perhaps what he said may have offended you a little bit, personally i don't see how it would offend you all that much, but it certainly did not warrant such a harsh reaction. I guess you're probably feeling like you're on a roll amusing people with your jackass comments, but that's not really the way to go about things in my opinion. Sorry about the bluntness of my response, i just found it completely uncalled for.

btw this comp was for bmx originally... which they killed. then for NWD 9 they had an epic shoot on for MTB. not a big deal. dont listen to this asian kid. he has no idea whats going on. i hate kids like that.... fucking amateurs.
 
WHAT! That was ridiculous. I barely rode this Summer so I was not up to date on anything in the mtb world, but let me tell you, mtb has progressed so much in just the past few years, has gained WAY more attention, and the filming has become top notch. IMO, I like a lot of the shots in mtb WAY better than most shots in a ski movie. I am surprised no one really uses cable cams, they make for a great angle and shot.
 
yeah i was watchin nwd 9 and i had to show NS the shit bikers are doing this days, nwd 10 looks nuts too
 
What was the 3 the biker pulled in the first vid where the bike was parallel to the ground and perpendicular to the biker called? Could be the most steezy thing I've seen.
 
Sure it looks cool and all but without watching the vid again and having watched it before thewy could have done that without the pipe all toghether. There is a drop in then a little hip, step up, drop down, uses the wall as a corner then a wallride or something.

They didnt need the pipe at all it just looks cool and they need to spend the budget on something. Just what i think.
