I put this in regionals but it'll probably get more exposure here. I just got this in an email and copied and pasted it directly but try your best to read it, it's well worth it.

To our season passholders, Before we announce this to the public and the media, we wanted you to hear thisexciting news first. Along with Peak Resorts, I am happy to announce that Mount Snow will dedicate theentire Carinthia mountain face to freestyle terrain parks when it opens for the 2008-09 season, transforming 95 acres of trails into a massive park system. Carinthia is about to become Vermont’s only all-freestyle mountain face. Asmorgasbord of rails, jumps and halfpipes will cover nearly five miles of terrain. Asnowskate playground, hikable park, beginners’ learning park and a skate ramp willsurround the base area, while the base lodge itself will be renovated and outfittedwith lounge areas, an extended outdoor deck with ample seating, counter seatingalong the windows, free wireless internet, flat screen televisions, outdoor firepits and a new retail shop. Skiers and riders can choose from a variety of approximately 125 freestyle featuresscattered around 12 full terrain parks. A tree-skiing area, a superpipe with 18-footwalls, a mini-pipe with 8-foot walls, an all-natural park absent of manmade materialand a big-air site will also be featured. The sweeping overhaul is the brainchild of Peak Resorts’ president, Tim Boyd, andhis son Jesse, Peak’s Vice President of Operations & Freestyle Terrain. Jesseoversaw the modification of Big Boulder in Pennsylvania into an all-freestylemountain and will work closely with us during the changeover. Our Mountain ManagerElia Hamilton, as well as Parks and Pipes Manager Ken Gaitor, are both nationallyrecognized and respected freestyle terrain designers who will spearhead the project, scheduled for completion by the time the mountain opens for the 2008-09 season. On a recent visit to Mount Snow, Jesse Boyd explained that freestyle skiers andriders are the future of the ski industry. “They’re the fastest growing group, and it just makes sense to build the biggest and best parks that Mount Snow canoffer,” he told me. Carinthia will be perfect for spectators. Not only will mom and dad be able to hangout on the deck and watch the kids in one of our learning parks, but they can joinin the fun themselves. This is for everyone, young and old, beginner and expert, skier and rider. Under the new plan, all freestyle terrain parks will be contained to Carinthia. Thiswill improve the flow of skier traffic on Sunbrook, the North Face and the MainFace. Un Blanco Gulch will revert to a ski trail, while trails like lower Long Johnand Standard will be relieved of park traffic. Not into freestyle? Don’t worry,Carinthia is being designed to accommodate a wide range of skiers and riders, withan emphasis on providing a family-friendly environment. A little background: Mount Snow opened Un Blanco Gulch, the first terrain park inthe East, in 1992. The Inferno park, which was featured at the ESPN X-Games in 2000and 2001, will return to its home turf on the former Stugger’s Chute trail atCarinthia. The tubing park, currently located on Ski Baba at Carinthia, will berelocated to Mixing Bowl on the Main Mountain. This exciting transformation comes as Peak Resorts continues its commitment to offera superior on-hill product and act as an innovative leader in the ski industry.Combine this summer’s addition of 150 fan guns with last summer’s 101, and MountSnow will have spent $8.5 million adding 251 new-technology fan guns, the most ofany resort in North America. Many of the trails on Carinthia will be flanked by theguns, including Mine Shaft, Nitro, Lower Titanium, Stugger’s Chute and Fairway. The fan guns’ ability to produce high quality snow in marginal temperatures willallow our terrain parks to open earlier in the season and stay open later. I know this is a major change, so please do not hesitate to email with questions, concerns or loud shouts of “wahooo!” For an updated trail map of Carinthia, the new logo and related photos, please visitthe Parks & Pipes page at www.mountsnow.com, or call 800-245-SNOW for moreinformation. Sincerely, Kelly Pawlak, General Manager

Because of the guns they have the potential to be bigger and better with a longer park season than anywhere. Watch!

that sounds sooooo dope.

but it could go both ways tho. less focus on one park= tons of mediocre features on lots of parks. who knows. they will need to invest LOTS of money to actually pull this off legit. id rather have a park crew focus as much energy into ONE park as they are into ALL of carinthia.

what are you talking about? last year there were 4(plus the pipe and the little 2 jump line on the inferno trail) parks in diff areas...all of which were in the best shape they've ever been. opened earlier, and closed later than usual too. moving all onto carinthia makes much more sense because all of that focus will be in one area. park crew wont be so spread out, and can take quicker laps to keep them in shape. also keeps more of the people out that arent supposed to be there

Just wait and watch. Mt Snow's going to be off the hook this year.

Now about that seasons pass....

Mt snow WHAT WHAT , i hopr they make a fuckin huge jump at the bottom of nitro and use the steep part as a landing for it thatd be ill or just a sick jump line like what they had for the open im so fuckin puped , only a few months until ski season!

that is so sick. All around mount snow this year they were advertising how they are getting another hundred or so new fan guns for next year. This is after they got a hundred new ones for this past season.

sounds pretty gnarls. i usually ride stratton but after last year i think i'll be hitting up mount snow this season.

stratton is taking up park space with condos and other development. c'est bull shit

fuck yea, we have a place in jacksonville(15 mis away) i havent skiied Mnt Snow in ages man. I'll ski there next year for sure.

i hate to be a hater, but the mount snow park crew cant even handle the amount of features they've had in the past couple seasons, they are going to need a HUGE step up if they are going to maintain a much huger park

Peaks is killing it on the EastCoast. Just wish they'd spend some more money at Crotched. :( maybe its time to move across the river to VT.

damn i just bought my pass to stratton. ill be sure to check in at mount snow throughout the season. this sounds insane

Yes they do need a huge step up!

oh! They need to step up the park crew. This is good info. Keep it coming...

i've heard nothing but good things when it comes to this jesse character, so i have full faith in the ideas they're outlining. can't wait to see it.

im going to have to find out how to clone myself to ski all this epicness at once!

bennetts gunna be working his ass off next year!

STOKED!

and so it will be mount snow that sets the benchmark for all east coast resorts and possibly all of america.....should be interesting.

it's easy to get kids psyched up to buy passes talking about an all terrain portion of a respectable mountain in the middle of june but lets not forget two years ago around this time mount snow claiming the longest (appx. 3500 ft.) terrain park which ended up being a shitty couple of jumps and rails so if I were you I wait to buy those passes untill they acctually back up their claim

Yeah, but those claims were made by the American Ski Company owners, in case you haven't noticed Peak Resorts stepped up the game 1000% already when they spent millions on new fan guns (they're up to 251 I believe), revamping lodges, and just improving the overall quality of the mountain. And that was this past year alone. I don't blame you for being skeptical but Peak Resorts is SO HOT right now

I might just have to move to mount snow for the next few years if they are gonna be holding true to this epic park plan of theirs.
