Mount snow rain

theres supposed to be a good amount of rain this weekend, then temperatures are gonna go way up, and then some more rain next weekend. is this going to hurt them a lot?

obviously it won't be the best this weekend, but hey, super soft, edgeable snow and no lift lines. I'm surfing instead, but the snow will definately hold. Base depth of 36-44" would need a deluge to wash out.

slightly related- any park crew member care to comment on the C bowl they are forming in the pit? looks like they'll put in a bunch of jibs, but its and odd shape.

rain there hasnt done much damage at all and hopefully it wont be too bad, today it was icing, so nothing really melted, it made for some intense mougal runs

Rain rain rain....... ???? Nope was mostly all frozen shit yeah rained for a bit but not heavy when the heavier precip rolled in it was cold enought for some more cement 6-7 inches so far not to baaaaaaaaaaad. Guess the plan with the new build is gonna be a skate style feature. Itll have some gap sections cut into it with one of them having the dog house set back inside, some stalls n rails, could always change up though who knows till its fully done

From their website: "Throughout last night and today we’ve had about 8” of new snowfall! It’s

a little soggy, but I’ll take it! We’re expected to get more snow and

sleet this evening, which should turn to snow for Monday. Tonight we

could get 2-4”, and Monday we may see another 1-3”."

Sounds promising once the sun is shining. I (Jon) am headed up for St. Patty's day to enjoy some sun and minishred. If you see the BroBomb stickers on the skis, say what's up. Peace dudes.

Does this mean inferno is closed fri
Schedule:

Registration: 9am - 12noon
Practice Slopestyle: 9am -4pm

they finally got some non-striaght features. 2 c-rails on gulch and the s rail on lower nitro. plus the wallride on gulch. My only gripe is that I prefer walls to be set perpendicular to the trail. either way, thanks.

TWA, learn to be grateful for what you've got. I agree with you, but seriously, lighten up. And is Killy's really that much more varied?

he's totally right though, there's absolutely no variety. the c box on the right side of gulch has been around for like 8 years, and the new c box in gulch sucks anyways. whoever orders mount snows rails needs to watch edits from keystone/breck/pc and get inspired. i'm so sick of 10 foot down rail, 12 foot flat-down, 15 foot flat down, 15 foot flat box x10, etc. Aside from a few very minute variations, the setup in gulch hasnt really changed all season. They took out that black urban down rail which was the best rail in the park when it was setup correctly. fuck.

40's? Gulch jumps are the smallest they've been all year. I'll give the second to last one 25 on a good day. That thing is fucking tiny.

your kidding right. the jump is puny as fuck. and the second one is like 30-35 tops. both used to be much bigger.

the urban down needs to go back up and the dfd before the mini pipe needs to go in gulch

First jump in Gulch is like 15', second is maybe 30'. I dunno what you mean about stretching them out, but I've seen kids overshooting for the last month or two there.
Inferno's first is like 50', second one near 65'.

the first one in gulch is not fun to over shoot. you can stretch it out maybe 5 feet but after that enjoy your shin splints.

i overshot the first one and almost cleared the whole landing i only needed about 15 more feet. some people may have saw me there, i went huge, probably enough to clear inferno. luckily it was a soft day though so i just double ejected and pretty much made a hole at the bottom of the landing. then i ended up throwing 3 tail and 7 off of it by the end of the day.

dan, MS rail set up is baller. There's like a billion rails in a row. We don't have crazy shit like keystone, but we got some creative shit; wood park, sick stalls, etc. You aren't going to find a better park on the east.

yeah its a sweet saetup were just saying that its not that creative its like all flatbars and barely any round rails, and a lot of the rails are pretty short in nitro

yeah ive heard that loon was the place to be this year on the east, never got up there but maybe this spring

MS rails are sick....but in a way i would have to agree with them needed bigger more creative things in the bigger parks...such as things at keystone/breck...or stuff from PC like ive seen in many edits this year...just to add that little more fun to it....but im not complaining...MS is the best place ill be skiing on the east....just wish gulch jumps were bigger too because inferno is in a way "too much of a step up" (size wise)

MS needs a couple or even just 1 step overish style jumps like the west coast has. PC's stepovers are the fucking perfect jumps to learn new trick on despite them being decent sized. The last jump in Pick is so money. Ec builders could learn a thing or two if they just took a second to look at whats going on west. And dont give me that not enough snow bs, it doesnt take much more snow to build it step over style vs. a monster lip and step down.

yeah the size of the gulch jumps is pretty dumb. tall and short...i haven't hit them in looong time, but they look shitty.

any carinthia diggers reading this? some good suggestions in here.

Also, I'll be up tomorrow afternoon through saturday, and since I can't hit jumps much or do a lot of moguls due to pending knee surgery, I'm looking for guys to film with. I've got an non-hd gopro and I'm trying to make a pole mount for it. Anyway let me know, probably just for a few laps so I can get filming and editting practice.

I'll also try some photography on inferno on sat. Can I get a media pass or do I have to hike to the bottom two kickers? Weather's going to be great!

Today was pretty terrible, gulch jumps have shrunk to about 10 feet and inferno was closed on one of the busiest days of the year leaving the few people who actually belong on carinthia with nowhere to go but the buzzard fest that gulch and nitro were. Really not impressed with MS lately and I am usually one of the first to defend them.

Went up yesterday. It was a blast and I love all the stock minishred, but I can see how the locals are getting restless. Seems that Nitro has become a "mini" rather than true "medium" park. I can't really get enough minishred in my life, so I was in heaven. The one thing that really surprised me was jump quality. Seemed like they went with long decks and short landings on most of the medium sized jumps. Kind of skiercross style.

I think alot of criticism of mt snow is taken as a joke just becuase they are right around the top parks. There is not one established better park and transworld doesnt mean shit. The crticism by us, the kids who ski religously here, should be heard. We know what would make mt snow the best. lets erase the east coast ideals of mediocere skiing and compete with the best parks in the world. no exuses.

I agree, I do love all the tiny shit in nitro. It's really fun to mess around with. But when you're there 50-60+ days a year, it gets repetitive. I suppose that can be said for all mountains, but the lack of variety is awful. I rode one day at okemo and they had a gnarly 40 foot flat bar connected to a 30 foot flat-down rail. It was creative and unique, and also really fun. They also had a legit stair set with multiple options. Aside from that, their park sucked, but it was sick to see something that you don't see every day. Not to mention gaitor sucks at building jumps. I love slamming on the brakes and still (almost) overshooting every jump in nitro. Gulch jumps suck too. I got nothin but love for mount snow cause it's been my home for years, and like anthony said I'm always one of the first to defend them, but whoever builds the park needs their head checked. Park crew kids work their asses off maintaining rail lips and ruts, but they can only do so much.

Well boys, another rain storm has parked its ass over us. So if you're real close by, or if you head up, drop in some updates on how the snow's holding up.

Supposed to get much cooler after the storm, so hopefully everything will be preserved pretty well.
