My roommate who is a blader the other day asked me who would be considered the "Mount Rushmore" of freeskiing.

My response after moments of consideration was below. Only 4 heads on mount rushmore, who you got?

Mount Rushmore is a perfectly good mountain that's been ruined. Just like Vail.

I'm all for the patriotism thing, just not carved into mountains.

Hard to ignore Moseley, hard to ignore Seth, hard to ignore Jon Olsson… but yeah I mean Like maybe Mckonkey, Candide, Tanner, Pollard for me.
 
This is so tough… because there are 3 legendary names right off the bat I want to put on there, like Shane, Seth, Glenn Plake… but then there are at least 3 more names I wanna put on there like Simon, Candide, LJ, Sammy Carlson…

When LJ did a double cork over a freaking whale tail statue that put him on Rushmore IMO.

Couldn’t agree more man. That’s why I wanted to ask NS. Obv there’s gonna be so many names that don’t make the cut with just 4 heads, but that’s what makes it a fun thought experiment

Henrik needs to be on every list. He is literally too dominant. He was saying in a podcast that he has clips of him doing the gnarliest shit, but knows that it would progress skiing too fast, so he doesn't post it. Straight up controlling the progression of freeride skiing

I hate how some people think Liz Swaney's story is funny or epic because in actuality she made a laughingstock out of womens' freeskiing, which is already struggling for legitimacy. Meanwhile in womens' snowboarding we have superstars like Chloe Kim. We joke about Liz but she should be laughed AT, not with. It's honestly sad.

I love edollo, he's one of my favorite skiers and he's a big inspiration to the entire culture, but dudes on here act like he is literally God and it's kinda cringe

Speaking of laughing stock, I just checked her ig and stand up comedy is her latest endeavor, no clips though.

I didn’t think it was that big of a deal, to be honest. It’s a long known reality that your average World Cup race is far more competitive than the Olympics. On the flip side it gives up and coming US racers a chance to compete in a huge event who otherwise would get smoked by 47 Austrians in a GS event or whatever. Her run was really bad but the amount of scrutiny that NS gives it when I am all but certain people gave less than professional performances in basically every event in the entire games because that how it works says a little bit more about this community than it does about Liz Swaney.
