try visiting some forums that are based mainly on motorsports, i think that is a great place to start.

i dont really know any, but i know my good friend google will help you out.

Where do you live, if there is a local track around you go to their website and check their schedules. If they have open track days go out there pay a small fee and just drive man. Take a few laps get comfortable, and then just keep pushing yourself further and further. And at the end of the day if you still want to do it go talk to a track director, ask around anything. Someone will help you out find what you need to find. There are classes where you need to do mods to the car and there are others you can just run stock run whatcha brung classes. Motorsports is all about how far you want to take it, and mostly how much you want to spend. But just have fun and take it to the track, it's the safest and most controlled place for speed.

HDPEs, open trackdays, are a good way to get started so are autocrosses. If your looking to start racing find some one at the track that already does and ask questions. Another good way is to find someone racing and start crewing for them. They'll get you into the paddock and you can get a feel for how it all works. There are quite a few tracks on the east coast so it shouldn't be too difficult to find a lot of trackdays and race weekends. Take a couple years to get comfortable being on track and pushing the limits and when you're ready buy a car. Building up a car to race takes a lot of time and is very expensive.

I started doing autoxs and trackdays about 6 six years ago and then got my SCCA license last year. Bought a car that was already built and have done about 8 weekends since. Its a big commitment once you step up to actually competing. Lots of time and money to try and get to the top.
