i wanna go for my learners for a motorcycle. my parents don't approve so do i need there signature or anything or can i just go get it. and do you have to wait a year after you get it or can you go get your real license right after?

it really depends on where you live, in Alberta, you need parental consent for all licensing until you are 18. Motorcycle licensing system here is, class 7 - just a knowledge test (learners, for car or motorcycle), you need your class 7 for one year until you can become a probationary rider, then another year later you can take the road test for your class 6 (full fledged motorcycle), shitty I know, it takes 3 years to do the whole thing.

they should just be like if you already have you drivers license for a car then you already know the rules of the road. you shouldn't have to wait at all.

my friend got his in PA when he was 16. didn't have to drive either, was just a written test then bam got his motorcycle license. not sure one the parental consent thing.

oh and the same kid 6 months later got hit by a car doing around 60 and had to get life flighted...didn't get seriously hurt though hahaha.

are you buying a motorcycle or like a crotchrocket?

in minnesota...if your over 18....you can take the written test one day and the next the drivers test.

under 18...you have to pay to take a class, then take the written test. that gives you your permit. i dont know if you can get your license when your under 18 here, or if you have to wait.

its not a big deal between the license and permit anyways.

1. have to have a helmet (you should wear one anyways)

2. no passengers (you should have experience before you do that)

3. cant ride at night (oh well)

4. cant ride interstate (legally)

haha fair enough, I think I rode for a year and a half illegally until I got my learners. Maybe not for you but I started on my friends Ninja zx 6r, and I'm 5ft 100lbs so yes cornering and countersteering was a complete bitch.
