Motorcycle accident

Just thought I'd share something that happened to me recently:

My friend Mitch and I were returning home from another friend's house at around 11:30 Friday night. We stopped at a red light at an intersection between a regualr street and a highway. In front of us was a black SUV. The light went green, and we began to cross the intersection. Being in the passenger seat, I wasn't really paying attention to what was going on, but all of a sudden I heard Mitch say "Oh SHIT" and slam on his brakes. I look up to see a rather large superbike (crotch-rocket) doing about 80 mph slam into the back-right quarterpanel of the SUV. The black SUV spun 180 degrees into another white SUV, and the woman on the back of the bike was thrown over the bike and under the tires. The driver of the bike was also thrown about 25 feet.

"Holy fucking shit" I said as Mitch backed out of the intersection. We parked in a gas station parking lot across the intersection and ran over. I saw someone already calling 911. I didn't look too closely at the bodies, but I did see that only the man was moving. When the cops came I walked back and glanced at the woman. No one was standing around her, seeing if she was okay, there was a huge pool of blood around her head. I saw that she was not wearing a helmet, and I knew she was dead. The cops questioned Mitch and I for a bit, finally letting us leave at about 12:30. I later found out that both the man and the woman (20 and 19 years old) were both killed.

Scary night, to say the least.

agreed why would you ever get on a bike without a helmet. that would be a horrible situation to be in. especially if the bike had hit your vehicle.

my schools softball team saw a motorcycle accident. the guy was going down the highway doing a wheelie adn hit a car. he fell off his bike, cracked his helmet in half, hit the guardrails and hot his head/arm ripped off. yes all the girls in my middleschool softball team saw a head sitting in the middle ofhte highway. they all ogt called down to guidance to see if tehy were traumatized

Our neighbors nextdoor neighbors were gone and they had some people taking care of their kids. I guess there was a couple there and the boyfriend was teaching his girlfriend how to ride a dirtbike and she went through a barbed wire fence. It ripped her through all the way through to her neck bone. Imagine how you'd feel if you were responsible for you girlfriend death?

also agreed, it's just stupid not to wear a helmet. some people say "I like the wind in my hair", to which i like to reply "Do you like the pavement in your skull?"

Other people say it's uncool, then apparently death or serious injury is cool.

i want to get a motorcycle. and when i do, i'm always wearing leather head to toe and a full face helmet. and i'm also not getting a crotch rocket.

and i'm also not doing 80 through an intersection.

it's a sad story, but these things happen, and they must be used as lessons for the rest of us.

i wouldnt get a street bike, i would buy a dirtbike and ride that on trails and stuff, but where i live (atlanta suburbs)_ if u ride a street bike ur basically asking to be killed

not only is that why u wear a helmet, but thats also why u dont speed through red lights on a crotchrocket and hit a black suv

thats awful man, i saw one a few years ago where 5 cars got wrecked on the highway. the worst was that one car was ripped in half(it had swerved all the way across the median into the opposite interstate lane) and i could see the guys legs hanging out. i read in the paper that he was dead on impact.

car crashes arent quite as gory looking as motorcycle crashes in my opinion, cause you dont see two people fly 25 feet and land and have huge piles of blood and be dead, or see em get stuck under the wheels of a car. thats horrible. ive never seen a dead person before. and i think if i ever do, he wont be lying in a street with a huge pile of blood still moving.

damn im sorry to hear that bro. its gotta be tough. life sometimes throws a curveball at you and hits you hard and unexpected. im not gonna lie tho, crotchrockets seem fun if you dont be a retard about them. be safe and think about others besides yourself.

that's just sad!

Also stuiped for not wearing a Lid, in some states It's not the law where you must wear a helmet!... man I just spent $600 US Bones on a new bucket, that the most important safety equipment you should buy...

There's a place and time for everything to be dumb and have fun!

Such a sad sorry, I lost 2 great buddies on motorcycles, it really isn't fun when you stuff like this happens

that sucks, u gotta be smart when ur on a bike meaning you have to look around more since you are smaller and harder to see than cars.

i would like to get a crotch rocket sometime later, my dad has an american eagle harley davision (i think?) bike and its a sweet looking bike too.

look at this site... you might have seen this before, but i should bring it up to tell all of you of how dangerous motorcycles can be if ur doing something stupid. http://www.roadratroberts1.bravepages.com/ULTIMATE%20CROTCH%20ROCKET%20CRASH.htm

The Honda rider was traveling at such a "very high speed", his reaction time was not sufficient enough to avoid this accident. Swedish Police estimate a speed of ~250 KM/h (155mph) before the bike hit the slow moving car side-on at an intersection. At that speed, they predicted that the rider's reaction time (once the vehicle came into view) wasn't sufficient enough for him to even apply the brakes. The car had two passengers and the bike rider was found INSIDE the car with them. The Volkswagen actually flipped over from the force of impact and landed 10 feet from where the collision took place.

All three involved (two in car and rider) were killed instantly. This graphic demonstration was placed at the Stockholm Motorcycle Fair by the Swedish Police and Road Safety Department. The sign above the display also noted that the rider had only recently obtained his license.

At 250 KM (155 mph) the operator is traveling at 227 feet per second. With normal reaction time to SEE-DECIDE-REACT of 1.6 seconds the above operator would have traveled over 363 feet while making a decision on what actions to take. In this incident the Swedish police indicate that no actions were taken. FUCKIN' WEIRD, HUH?..............RR

holy shit. thats all

thats rediculous

if it wasent such a grave matter i bet that could go in the owned thread.

i feel bad for the people in the car though... or actually everyone. rip

we saw a motorcycle try to pass a car over a hill, and hit an suv at like 80 head on, the dude flew like 35 feet, and landed, bounced, and hit a guardrail which SEVERED his torso.

this was possibly the gnarliest crash ive ever seen, fucking horrific.

Two of my friends freshmen year got in a motorcycle accident. The kid driving the bike had his permit and it was at 130 in the morning they were goin about 100 down this hill and a drunk guy pulled out of a bar and the bike hit head on. The kid on the back of the bike flew abou t50 feet and he lives but with brutal wounds and broken bones and collapsed lungs the kid driving the bike got hit in the back fo the head by the bike killing him instatly its a fucked up story and its true its not worth riding stupid with people on the back I was gonna get a biek adn my dad wont let me the kid who survived is now one of my bestfriends he still has flashbacks

Never seen a dead person? You've never been to a funeral or a visitsion before? Maybe you decided they were only resting.

yep been in that situation before. was going around a pretty tight curve and i look up and theres a motorcycle coming right at me. i swerved into the other lane to miss him but he went of the road and slammed into a telephone pole. the motorcycle was laying on top of his face so we pulled it off and waited for the medics to come. the next day i found out that it was one my best friends dads. that was the hardest thing that i ever went through in life.

itt pisses me off, cuz half the time it the fucken cagers who kill bikers!... I got cut off the road many of times,

Twice I almost would of been toast, if I didn't know it was gonna happen, after the fact I rolled up and punched off there mirror off there doors, and they learned there lesson hopefully

i didnt realize this thread had resurfaced. here's a little update:

the girl had never ridden a bike before. her friends begged her, told her to ride with him as he was supposedly very expirienced and a great driver. she consented, with one exception: she did not want to wear a helmet. apparently this group of cyclists were playing a game called "snake and mongoose" or something like that where one bike takes off with a head start and the others try to catch up. some "need for speed" esque thing. anyway, i dont know if they were the chasers or being chased, i guess it doesn't really matter.

there was a court case, the driver of the motorcycle got 30 days in prison after hospitalization. His attorney's defense was that "The SUV should have looked before entering the intersection, if it had, all would still be alive today." the father of the girl, a local radio dj, decided no more charges were necessary for the bike's driver, since he has to live with it the rest of his life.

no i really dont think ive ever seen a dead person. even at a funeral. i dont think it really counts if theyve been all set up to look nice, and put in a casket, but even then ive never seen one. it'd be weird and scary and sad to see a dead person after some sort of gory accident, or to be the first person to find somebody who'se dead.

yea yo that sucks real bad, i wrecked my GSX-R right before i graduated, i was real lucky didnt get hurt barely at all,

i wish we could be all fortunate
