What is the purpose of fat skis? More float in powder.
Get much powder in Maine? Not that I recall.
Fatter skis are going to spin slower be a bit heavier. You *might* get a little bit more stability on landings, but if you need ultrafat skis to stick your landings, ya got issues.
Skiing in Maine on Motherships is going to feel like you've got 2 aircraft carriers strapped to your feet. They'll feel sluggish and heavy.

if you want a wider ski check out something in the 75-85 mm underfoot range. such as PEs, Scratches, Mad_Trix, or TMs. you dont need 97 mm in Maine, but if they are what you want i say go for it. a wider platform helps for landings (a little) and on rails. get what you want

I ride Skogens and Motherships and my motherships are actually damn good in the park and all over the mountain, as long as ice doesn't factor into the equation. On ice they are sketchy as hell so if it's icy a lot in maine (and I imagine it is) then they might not be the best choice.

^eastrider, check out the Pistols. they have ABS sidewalls so they can hold an edge for the regular easy, but since you are going to Jay they are nice and fat for pow. plus they are supposed to kick ass in the park as well

I skied the motherships for a season and loved them except when the snow was rock hard. They did not ride smooth over day old, frozen, chunked up, shitty snow. I would buy a fatter ski over a thin ski any day but those were a little soft for hard snow days outside the park...
