Taking into consideration park, powder, overall terrain, lodging and everything else, what do you think is the most underrated or underestimated resort in Western Canada?

Whistler, maybe banff

east canada...tremblant

Imagine the ns outcry if u(lateralis) were banned. There would be countless threads and petitions to bring u back, it would be like when treadway got banned from whistler. Someone would probably make and sell 'Free Lateralis' stickers and shit. -j
 
i dont think Whistler counts, its one of the biggest resorts in north america, and the biggest in Canada i think, i dont beleive its very underrated, i want to know resorts that are kinda under the radar, but are alot of fun, just dont get much attention.....

And Tremblant is a big one on the east coast, compared to alot of the eastern US resorts Tremblant kicks ass but no one talks about it much becuase its in Canada.

Fernie (is best), Sunshiner (is good for spring time). Kicking Horse, And there are a whole bunch of other amazing resorts too.

silverstar, twin peaks, sunpeaks, big white, powder king

all are killer but seem like crap compared to whistler

my mountain (mt. washington) is the only one on the island but has pretty good hits, although the rails and boxes are a little few and far between

if any of you have been to these resorts, do you know kris marsh? hes a boarder and an amzingly cool guy, he told me that he worked at a small resort in BC, but i dont know which cause i lost touch with him.

Red Mountain for sure! They try so hard to make their park to what the locals want it to be, they let us set up custom stuff, it has sick terrain with nice cliffs in bounds and when it is a powder day you can get away skiing powder all day, and then powder all next day too.

lake louise for park. their park is sick, mad flowy. Kicking horse is overrated if anything, Ive been there twice, nothing spectacular.

kicking horse, red, fernie, wh20 and others all suck... the interior is way over rated... dont come here we dont want you... go to whisler, they want you, we dont.

 
If you didn't find anything spectacular to ski on kicking horse, you probably only stayed on the lower mountain.

3 wide open inbounds bowls, plus 3 backcountry bowls all within a 30 minute hike of either of the two highest chairs is something to be reckoned with.

I suggest you find someone who knows the mountain pretty well and ski with them on a good snow day.

The only bad thing about kicking horse is if there's no new snow, the mountain is pretty boring because of no park, and everything being mogully and hard as hell.

the 3 inbound bowls arent that big, I dunno, it got old quick. Its got nothign on whistler, lets just put it that way. I ddint go into the backcountry though, no.

Well duh it has nothing on whistler.

Whistler has been open for like 20 times longer than Kicking horse, a whopping 5 years.

I'd say they've done a damn good job of their mountain and village and skiable terrain so far in 5 years.

But yeah, I didn't go into hte real backcountry either, so I shouldn't talk. I've only been told by others of it's greatness.

Rex Thomas is trying for a park to be put in next year on the stairway chair, so if that happens, it'll be good.

I personally think it should be on the quad chair at the bottom. The one that only 8 people ride per day.

mt. baker is near canada (30 min from boarder to the access road/ highway (another 30 min)), it is under rated, it has limitless backcountry possibilities, with some sick lines and nice places for booters. the runs inbounds can be fun as well, the Double blacks are have some nice cliffs and chutes. The park is nice in spring if it is not a shitty snow year (like this one) and can put up some decent sized hits. The main reason it is sick is the pow!!!!!!! It averages over 700in/year. That is one statistic that no one can argue with.

how could you say su peaks is underrated. its so overrated its rediculous. there is no big mountain skiing, and they have no history of a park other than jsut now. same with big white, and silverstar. the interior is way overrated. Red mountain is by far my favouritist hill. its like all the fun shit in whistler with a way cooler vibe and no dumb fucking tourist. a real skiers hill. and lots of snow.

Sun Peaks...... overrated!

I live 5 minutes from the mountain and i think it is was overrated. They have huge tours that come in from Australia, German, and the states and i work in a ski shop and they all think its the Bees Knees.

it is not , we got shitty backcountry! but next year if our Park manager gets wut he wants or park is gonna be so sick!

the bowls at kickinghorse are huge mikee. did you make it to terminator ridge. how about he far side of fuez. what about the hundreds of line possibilities off of CPR ridge and the fuez ridge. you gotta have an imagination when you go their. theres a variety of log jibs and cat track gaps, natural quater pipes, spines, hips and tables. as well as any sort of cliff your like to drop from 5 feet to 100+. its ridiculous really, and the line ups are usually so small. mikee your a fucken bitch.

it just doesnt have that like... you can ski a new line every run for a year feel . It doesnt have that crazy massive big mountain feel tha whistler, and even lake louise have.

Whoever said that Louise's park is Flowy... what the fuck dude? There's almost NO flow in that piece of shit park. Ride at Nakiska and you'll see some flow. I can't even stand Louise's park after Nakiska's now.

Oh and for the sake of the thread. BY FAR the most UNDERrated park is Nakiska's. 1-2 speed checks in between every jump, no tucking into jumps, HUGE, STEEP, landings, and mellow, long lips.

The only bad thing is that they don't have many rails or a pipe.

 
word. i defiantely didnt get bored there. the lower 1/2 of the mountian is usually icey as hell though and mogul city but no need to use those runs until the end of the day so KH takes the cake

you got to be kidding me, who cares if the park manager wants to expand, what sun peaks needs is a park manager and crew that actually knew what they were doing, maybe a lesson in jump building and how to set up a rail is what they need, what a joke that mountain is a shitty park with a shitty park crew who try so hard to look like jibbers and try to impress all the other little park rats who have never skied anywhere else but think they are automaticlly good enough to get sponsered with no clue of the talent elsewhere
