Most Terrifying Video You'll Ever See

That was the most ridiculous argument that I have ever heard, the idea that we should act only based on what could happen is ludicrous.

Your objection is misguided. He isn't arguing for the existence of climate change; he clearly states that no such argument can be given and that the balance of evidence favours 'climate change agnosticism'. He is contending that despite the epistemic irrationality of choosing column A, if you like, it is prudentially rational, i.e. in one's interests, to choose column A regardless of the balance of evidence because of the infinite consequence posed by column B. As Pascal so eloquently puts it:

"Reason can decide nothing here. There is an infinite chaos which separates us. A game is being played at the extremity of this infinite distance where heads or tails will turn up. What will you wager?"

Dude.........that is the DUMBEST thing i have ever heard. so here comes a big ass hurricane ready to hit your town, 170 mph winds are forecasted, and massive amounts of rain that will cause flooding. With such destructive weather, there is a very large possibility that you could die. You could evacuate to ensure your saftey, but hey why act based on what could happen? Also everyone that smokes should start throwing cigarettes out into a field of dry, dead brush during a drought year on a hot summer day, it could start a fire, possibly become widespread, and burn someones house down, but, hey what the hell, why act based on what could happen? Dumbass

so your sayin we should wait and see what can happend, when we won't be able to reverse what could happen?

Do you know what means, NO SNOW, NO SKIING son.

Think about his argument..

These youtube videos are getting a little ridiculous. These people are not scholars, they are not experts, they are not scientists, they are average joes with theories that have no back up. it seems as if all this guy wants is for people to foward around this video like chain mail.

To add to this, I feel that a Punnet Square (I recall from 8th grade bio that that is the name) is highly inaproppriate here. The situation he is talking about, global warming, can not be seperated into four different (most extreme case) scenarious. There are numerous possibilities, factors, and outcomes.

Disclaimer/Conclusion

I am not trying to state my stance on global warming, for in this situation it is meaningless, what I am trying to do is critize his video.

He is not trying to prove or not prove that there is global warming. He is just stating the facts one what people are arguing about, and saying what is the most reasoniable solution, and he is right, to take action.

so what if they're not scholars, experts, or scientists. scholars experts and scientists are surely not the only people causing the problem, and the problem wont get fixed without the support of the rest of mankind.

decent video. he makes a good point. Although I think it's impossible for the "worst case scenario" It does kind of mean we should take a bit more action. I don't think the US is doing enough.
