At my local mountain there have some "ratchet " ass set ups, for example jump going straight into 5 foot wide pipe that is at least 3 feet taller than the job and its so wide you cant urban on .

Nice work! There's hope for you yet.

Most ghetto thing I ever saw at a park was a 47' stepdown booter, 7' tall takeoff which was aimed left and directly at the trees.

Apparently the park staff that built it his brother liked to do backside 9 or something, and the only landing that was available at the beginning of the season was right next to the trees with a halfpipe on the right.

So he built the jump into a shitty landing pointed directly at the trees to help his brother train one trick.

Fucking brilliant.

Seriously? Wow...

Hasn't happened yet but the general managers at one of the hills by me are putting the main park on our main run. I don't know what features they're going to have or how they're going to set it up but I can guarantee it's going to be sketchy and crowded as fuck. 1/10 not a good idea at all.

Blue Knob in PA has one of the most sketch park setups. it looks like they just cut handrails off of staircases.

Its like the give the lifties a 20$ bonus once a month to go throw some sketchy rails and wooden boxes on a run so they can advertise it as a terrain park

I thought this was going to be about ski setups, and in that case I would have said knee bindings center mounted on a pair of Klints.

Bogus Basin - whenever they try to make the park "decent." Rails are always wobbly and sticky as fuck.

Not so bad compared to some other resorts, we're getting a new manager for the park who actually knows some stuff so its supposed to get better this year

When i clicked this thread I wasn't sure if ratchet was a good thing or a bad thing.

came here to post this. that one down flat rail that was really a down up rail.

Came in to say that.

Also went last year and EVERYTHING had giant gaps on. I'm not a shitty park rider but the gaps just didn't make sense for the feature. A small aframe rail was set pretty much in the ground with a 10' ish gap on. Like you would gap and slam into the up. Also the take off was about 10" tall as well. Only thing would have been to disaster it. The smallest gap onto something was like 2 feet. Even the kiddie park had some big gaps I think.

Also the story of the shotgun there makes me never ever go near that thing.

Even though I kind of got fucked working there way back I almost hate trashing it because the last couple years it almost seems like they're trying, they just don't know what they're doing. The gap on thing was just wut though. Somebody must have thought, Im hardcore and not afraid of gaps so I'm going to put huge gaps everywhere. If length is the problem build longer shit. I mean hell one of the flat rails with a huge gap was new like 3 years ago I think. Build a bigger one next time vs having a 6' gap onto it.

That said I'll be up there once or twice this winter in the trees.

Windham Mountain in NY has a pretty shit set up. Boxes haven't been changed in years and are badly maintained, the same goes for the rails. Super sketchy place.
