Most progressive year of freeskiing thus far?

Disclaimer: when I say this year I'm referring to filming from last year and edits released this season.

This may seem like a ridiculous statement, but everything that's been done this ski season seems wayyy more progressive than any other year in freeskiing. For starters, the release of Vila's 'The Creep" was absurd, urban in a way it has never really been skiied before. The progression of butters seen in skiiers like E-Dollo and B-Dog, butters even being paired with doubles and triples! Bringing me to the butter triple cork which Harlaut threw in X-Games Big Air, nothing like that has ever been done before. On top of all of this, all the backcountry entries in the X-Games real ski competition brought park tricks to the backcountry syncing together park and backcountry. It might just be me, but I feel like this year (of filming) is the most progressive year of freeskiing ever.

"Most Progressive' is almost impossible to put a number on due to the fact that things progress literally every year.

I mean, one could argue the most progressive days in the park happened back in the late 90's when new tricks were being invented almost every day, twin tip skis were coming out, the industry was making a switch in advertising from the old ways (using information and models) to the new (using athletes), and the entire sport of skiing as we knew it was going through a revolution.

OR

You could argue that the years in the mid 2000's were the most progressive when skiers started dropping legit cliffs and backcountry booters with tricks that involved switch landings, as well as when the pros started to work on doing tricks both ways and urban was more about what tricks you did on the rail as opposed to simply just hitting the rail at all.

I don't think it's actually possible to claim any single year as the 'most progressive' because it's so subjective to what the individual gives more weight when judging progression.

I agree with the urban (everyone copying stept) and butter statements but park tricks in the backcountry have been done for a while. Tim Durtschi, Parker White, Dane Tudor, Mike Wilson, Mike Mertion, Rage Films, Poor Boyz, Level 1, and Nimbus have been doing crazy shit in powder for years.

Newschoolers has done such a good job at making media accessible that progression is no longer measured in yearly amounts every fall when the new movies come out. Shit is progressing at an exponential rate because this community is constantly feeding off of eachother! Shit is crazy, someone sees someone do something awesome in an edit and next day they are at the hill finding ways to tweak or "progress" it even further.
