Moto X is mos def the most progressive sport out there right now. I love skiing and it is my favorite sport, but compared to the limits that Moto X has no sport compares to their progression right now. 4 years ago a backflip was unthinkable. Now backflips seat grabs, double backs, body varials, flatspins.... the list goes on. Big props to the Moto X pros!

ummm yea, that one guy put rockets on his skis and hit a windlip... the rockets messed up and he landed on a shitload of rocks... anyway, moto X is fucking nuts...i mean it depends on the fall, but usually if u mess up and u fall in skiing or skating u knock the wind outta u or get a booboo or or something not that bad... they mess up they are out for 2 months... those guys are nuts...

I think it has alot to do with who is on the front line of motocross. These guys who are pushing freestyle motorcross are crazy. They put their life on the line for just about every jump they hit. Have you seen them crash after hitting a huge jump? It's not like some sports where you can just roll with it and get back up. These guys dead drop onto ground, concrete, and hard pack from 30+ feet up. Which they are guaranteed to break a few bones if not die.

Dedicated to the sport or just plain crazy? I don't know, but they sure get my respect.

yeah but i was just thinkin, you might think its being really progressive but freestyle moto x isnt that old at all. so its not like its been progressing like this for years and years. but i do agree that it is the most progressive sport. after skiing, im most hyped to watch freestyle moto x.

If you look at the average motoX kid, they are still at about the same level as 4 years ago. Take a look at the videos on NS 2 years ago and tell me we havent made any progression.

the only reason moto x is getting bigger is because foam pits, with out those they'd be nowheres, skiing can get bigger, but anythign that steps up in motox is gonna be crazy, just cuz the weight of the bike. take the double flip for example, if it's pulled sunday ppl will think is the most insane thign ever, but it's been done on pedal bike for years now, it's just cuz of the air they get, and the weight of the bike. I still think a 1080 on bmx is gonna be sick.

irotate360, progressive means moving forward, increasing, and improving. Now, I love skiing, don't get me wrong but the skiing scene has not been as progressive as the motox scene (which is what I believe the person who started this thread was trying to say).

Freestyle motocross has only been around for a short while, but in that short while it has moved forward leaps and bounds and been taken to new horizons. The scene has exploded. Last year's motox competition had something like a turnout of 50,000 spectators.

Skiing is progressing, and the pros are taking it to whole new levels, but the newschool skiing scene hasn't exploded like motox has....yet.

Therefore, my vote for the current most progressive sport (not just the skill of the riders but the whole scene and everything to do with it) goes to motox.

Motox isnt that progressive, it took them like twenty years to do a backflip now thats all they can ever do. Im sure its hard, but every trick is the same on Motox I think its one of the most boring 'extreme sports' to watch. Definitlly not progressive at all in my mind.

Personally I really don't like freestyle motocross, and have no idea why it gets so much coverage. Yeah there is progression, and I can appreciate the difficulty to an extent, but it's damn boring to watch. Fair enough seeing backflips was pretty cool the first 5 times but I really can't get into it. A body vaial would be cool (are peopel really doing them?), but where can it go from there? From a spectator's point of view, nothing can beat bmx pipe and dirt, and this is coming from a guy who doesn't even bmx.

 
Clearly skateboarding has become the most progressive sport.

Not only in sheer numbers of people who do it, but also people who watch it, tricks they can now do, media following, and how every single rail and ledge put into a city is now pre-capped, before any skateboarding even happens on it. They design huge parks and buildings around the idea that skateboarders will come there.

Skateboarding has had the biggest impact on us I think.

Moto X definitely has bene progressing a lot lately, skateboarding too. But I mean, most of us are only watching one Moto X event a year. So we are getting all the year's progression in one small package. I think people see skiing pretty similar to that, Look at the Winter X-Games Ski Slopestyle 2 years ago, with 5s and 7s, maybe a 9, now most pros go with a switch cork 10 on the last hit. Same with MotoX.

I agree MotoX is blowing up, but I think that if we all followed it as closely as we do skiing it wouldn't be so shocking.

surfing is crazy with all th ebig wave stuff that there doing nowadays. after towins from jet skis came along it opened a whole new world. now they say its just a matter of time before someone surfs a 100ft wave and when your surfin 50+ foot waves if u wipe your almost garentied to die.

Moto X is not very progressive if you think about it.

All they do is add a stupid little superman to something and people think it's on this whole new level.

Sure, I think it's sick they're doing all this so high up and that the danger factor is way up there, but after 2 minutes of watching moto X, it all gets to be the same shit. Seat grab here, nac nac there, a little combo here and there.

It's boring, really.

i dont agree with that, asfar as im comcerned while there are only so many tricks you can do, its only been a couple years now that guys have been throwing double backflips, and no foot backflips, no hand, and no nothing, in a year or two itll stop being new, but for now its still fun to watch and progressive

i would say wakeskating and then newschool skiing. Wakeskating cause the shit Horrel, McKovack, Byerly, Reed, and the rest are doing is insane wake to wake. Also all the grinds they can do now, way above the water, varials on, kickflips wake to wake, etc. Newschoole because look at just 3 years ago then look at today. The difference is phenominal. 3 years ago grabs werent a big deal, tricks didn't need them. Now grab are essential, as is style instead of hucking.
