salomon got the ball rolling but got too money oriented like most big name companies and doesn't allow as much rider input as in the beginning! ask auclair!

while salomon did 'start' twin tip skiing, freestyle skiing was started by skiers

any company can make skis, but those skis are always gonna be used as seen fit by riders

to be honest this whole 'lets bash every company that has more than 5 people' thing gets old

its our job to progress the sport

salomon did help start it, but they dont do anything helpful now a days, they sponsor some vids but thats easy to just throw out some money

i don't know, but i would call the pipe ski pretty progressive. i know that liking salomon is not in style, but it was salomon riders going 4 feet higher than all competitors at x-games superpipe.

actualy K2 had the first twin tip but a lot of you guys might have been too young (no offense) They designed the Duster and teh El Camino, the first dedicated park skis.

They are still pushing the spolrt at salomon. Looka at teh X games, the CR and Candide went nuts, the I believe the Shoya kid that was on global was on 1080s (correct me if i am wrong). Salmon continue to develop their skis and I am waiting to see wath their new S lab has in store for us skiers.

 
How are salomons pipe skis progressive?

Thats like saying factory downhill skis are progressive. All they do is use better basematerials and thinner edges to hold more speed through the flat bottom. But none of that matters if they dont sell what the pros use to the public.

 
they haven't done anything for a long time? I can't think of any ski ever made for park/pipe besides the 1080 pipe ski where someone could visably see the effects of a new ski...no one can deny what the pipe skis did for candide and cr

Salomon definitely is a progressive ski company, no one denies that. But there is no single company out of them all that can progress skiing. It's the input taken from skiers and drawn out and made into new skis, boots, bindings etc. by numerous companies that advance the sport. All of them contribute to skiings progression. Salomon is certianly a sick company, as was the ipe ski they gave to CR and Candide last year, that was sweet. Ride On guys.

K2 is better than salomon now. they listen to what skiers want, like wood cores and vertical sidewall sandwitch construction. Their skis are stiffer and last longer. salomon uses bullshit like foam, and space frame crap and there skis are as soft as shit.

 
the spaceframe makes their skis just as strong and a lot lighter. and on this whole progression but, you can get the pipe skis if you really want or deserve them, you just need to know how. if you deserve them, then i'm sure you would know how to get them. and they havent come out with new skis in 2 years? neither has rossi, line or armada, but lots of you still love them. anyway, just wait a month or so for the new skis to drop, and then salomon is on top again my friends

What are you talking about? Rossi came out with the Scratchs, the old model was powairs. K2 has fujatives coming, seth pistol, and PE. armada came out last year, 4frnt came out this year (so those are both within 2 years too). wasnt the mo-ship new to line too a few years ago? i might be wrong. salomon hasnt come out with a new ski in like 3 years..ive riden the 1080 too. i thought the spaceframe was quite weak.

a progressive company is a company thats out there with the riders at fat demos and repin there shit with the riders. Not a company owned buy some suit that sits in a office answering emails from kids that want to get free shit

First of all3ski6guy0 doesnt know what he is talking about by saying 'salomon needs more designs. i hate their spaceframe' A ski is more then graphics,a ski is based on flex, width, and side-cut, etc. . Secondly, I have delaminated 2 pairs of 1080's and have had them replaced right away....i just bring them into my local shop and they send them in and 2 weeks later i get new skis.

salomon did not invent twin tips! twins have been around since the 70's! although they weren't used for what we use them for today, ballet skiers have been using them for years! i believe the K2 poacher was the first modern twin tip.

It used to be that ski companies came out with new lines every year.... Not anymore. The spaceframe is good,light and well balanced. Along with all the other companies the skis are pretty well put together.

Now here is the thing. first I would love to try Armada, 4fronts or etc, but come on guys we all know or should have figured out that people such as Jf, Jp or Tanner moved for more money also.

Candide signed for more money, hell he could have build any ski for dynastar no? I think so. We always overlook Europe but please remember they dwarf us in sking numbers.

Nowadays we have a wide choice of skis that are friken great. light skiers or heavy skiers can choose a wide range or wild products is that BAD?

P.S. JAPAN HAS SICK POWDER

 
listen up kiddies- elan's been pushing this sport since the company began. they've been creating cheap skis for beginners. they have the best pro team which consists of... well no one.

well, anyway the most progressive company when twins first came out was line. the ostness dragon- that was the shit. now, everyone's doing the same thing: park and pipe twins, fat twins. so pick and choose, it's not going to make a difference.

the first k2 twin was the poacher...the elcamino and duster were regular all mtn. skis. I wanted to get a pair when they came out, but no one had them. (probably cause they made like 5 pair)

Line is the most progressive ski company. levinthal went from making twin tip skiboards in his garage with his buddies to making a good ski company for himself. He's always been creating new and distinct product, and always supporting his buyers (excellent warranty program, he personally provides for my flick pretty well, as well as the kids in it by giving then the oppertunity for reduced priced gear)

Line is the original and best progressive company. They took the sport where it is today, whether or not you like another company, you should really stop to thank Line for devoting an entire business to what we love to do

salomon is no longer pregressive. it was bought out by adidas and now the people that engineer your shoes also engineer your skis. when salomon was bought out adidas fired all of the ski engineers

I dont know about the poacher, but another new twin tip that came out before the 1080 that no one seems to know about is the Ross E Knoll or something like that (Rossi). Watch state of mind and you will see Vinnie on em. I also had em before I ever heard of 1080s

Another thing too. If you remember Boards in Motion, you might of seen/read this: It is also the first time I heard of twin tip skis. A company called Glissade (I think at one time a small snowboarding company that has long gone under) actually had or at least proposed twin tips, but I really dont know what happened there.

salomon is progressive, there giving CR and Candide both pro models, i think thats pretty good considering other companys such as 4frtn armada and K2 only have 1 or 2 pro models, so there sitting better or at the same level as many companys in that aspect.........
