Most Legit Shop in your area?

damn, it sounds like you guys have some sweet shops!
in belgium the most legit shop is probably the pacific boardshop, just because he's the only guy who actually knows something about skis...

id say closest really legit shop is TMC, its my fav, big fan of fresh in calgary as well.

as for really local... fusion board shop, sadly no ski's but some friends own it and its got some sick stuff.

South Denver: http://www.eskimoshop.com

North Denver: http://www.larsonsport.com

These are throw back family run ski shops. The last of a dying breed. They have techs who have been working in these shops for a long time and the owners are in it because they love skiing. The guys at the Eskimo are the only ones in Denver I would allow to touch my skis. Let's say you actually wanted to tune your own skis, the Eskimo is the only place where you could buy tuning equipment. I haven't been to Larson's, but some really credible guys have told me that it's like the Eskimo.

Please support little home grown shops like these! If they go under, we're all screwed. Working on ski equipment is an art. I am never going to put my faith and skis in the hands of a big box sporting goods store. Most of the techs I have spoken with at place like that, couldn't find their own ass with both hands a road map.

End Rant

alpine haus in manchester, CT. it's the best in the area for sure. they've got a better selection of twin tips and everything else then ski market, the local chain. plus it's a lot friendlier there. but ski market's not bad either. they have a large selection of movies, and they have other stuff besides skiing and snowboarding there

this.
or suburban sport house in Berlin, SO many boots, and a pretty good selection of twins.

i miss that shop sooooooooooooooo fucking much. everything else in boulder just doesn't even compare. *tear

there are only about three shops near my house and they all have their strenghts;

-MoMo Sports; great service and pretty good selection

-Fresh; cool employees and a wide range of good skis (armada, line...)

-GS ski shop; literally 2mins walk from Sutton and they have CoreUPT.

well, we have one shop where i live that sells legit skis and carries orage.. but then theres EVOgear about 3ish hours away in seattle lol

Colorado Ski Shop in west springfield, ma. not just cause it's in my signature but it's right off 91 on my way to vt. they carry everything i could want and are real personable. everyone should atleast stop by next time they're driving by and check it out for themselves. they also have a stacked online store that'll have more product added soon for this year

How is it that we live in CO and don't have a legit shop?! I went to Seattle and Evo is definitely the nicest shop I have ever seen, they need to open on in CO.

lazy, just go to potterbrothers in wapingers. They have a better selection and they guys there are so chill. Just take 84 to fishkill and go north on 9 till you get to the plant depot plaza and its there new shop. its pretty sick. Its the closest ski shop for me in cold spring. I get my boots custom fitted for me because i have a verris foot, i go THE PRO i think its called. Its just out side of the town of hunter, on the way to to mountain. They guy there does great work, he is a certified and I have never had a problem. I recomend everyone this guy and they all agree. If you live Near Hunter, NY you should check him out.

Nah man, Piste Off is still open, he just goes home for the summer. He'll be back for the winter no doubt, he just closes down for the summer so he can head home and chill with his friends and shit. Trust me, you'll see him again this year

In the Twin Cites my favorite is Hi-Tempo always had good luck with them. Pinewskis is too far. Sorry for all you FL Project haters here in MN but I get 75% off of everything in the store, so I buy all my outerwear/clothes at FLP.

Thanks, I'm gonna go get a pair of skis mounted at eskimo and see how they do. I sent the owner a quick question and he responded like he knew what he was doing. It's amazing how thick some shop guys at places like boulder ski deals are.

whistler has TMC which is the dopest shop in the world, got my voleruz from there. but in kelowna, ide go with fresh air concept store

Frank Bulkley is oldschool, but he's awesome and he knows more about ski equipment than the entire staff at Sports Authority. I'm stoked that you are going there. The guys in the shop are Greg Holkit and Greg Jenkins. They both know they're shit.

Just like any place though, I'd still mark your skis. Throw some masking tape on the tip and write "TIP" on it. If you are having them mounted center, put some masking tape in the center and write "Mount Center". They are not likely to screw up, but it's always a good idea to mark what you want.

If you live anywhere in the northwest you gotta come check out The Sports Creel... I would live there if I could. People are great, products are great, Prices are great, and the customer service is out of this world

Only shops in Philly area I know of are Buckmans (buckmans.com) and Danzeisen & Quigley (dandq.com). DandQ is in Cherry Hill NJ and Buckmans has shops all over. DandQ has a pretty sick selection for a South Jersey Ski Shop and they actually know what they are talking about with current ski companies.

theres a ski market down the street from summit but ski market is sick regardless

also the Ski Rack in burlington vt

Not really any legit stores in Portland that I know of but there is Hillcrest in Gresham. they're super chill and have always treated me right.

so true.

that's where I got my voleurz aswell.

and as for van snowcovers and comor are my shops.

there's a lessser know shop over by scince world but I can't remember the name and I've never been.

the alpine shop here in sandpoint know the guy who owns it for years and its super legit mostly armada and rossi but still great shop

This is a great thread. I'd love to see this become a sticky or maybe create a list of legit shops. It's easier to find a decent shop in a ski town, but most of us don't live in ski towns. If you live away from your hill, good shops are tough to find and the legit ones are all little renegade shops competing with big sporting goods stores. It's definitely in our best interest to promote these small legit shops, and help them stay in business. If we lose them, we're hosed. You'll go to pick your skis up only to find that the shop monkeys have mounted your bindings on your bases.

D-Structure in San Francisco is so sick, always has the dopest art up and sickest clothing along with some sick skis there too

Sorry to double post, but does anyone know any good shops within an hour of Nassau County, LI? In NYC, maybe?

There's Ski Stop near me and they stock some good stuff, a lot of LINE, and their prices are pretty good, but their selection is pretty slim.
