one thing i don't get or like about ski movies is that they feel the need to put girls in them for the sake of it. sorry but i don't really need to see a girl do the same shit most of us could do but on a smaller scale & with a way weaker style. if girls want to see other girls ski go out and make your own movie because quite frankly i don't really care to watch it.
 
i can vouch that liam's seg is ridiculous this year in long story short... but you, steve, are a fucking retard, i cant think of a person who is more relevant in skiing than pep... anybody, saying pep is worse than pollard.
 
well wether it was on purpose or not how about that 3 he did and then turned and went 180 back the other way, thats like tiger woods stopping his swing in the top of his back swing like no one else can do that. but the way he does everything is so smooth so stylie.
 
ok wait, im getting so much hate for sayin Mik D, its not cause i don't like him, he's fuckin awsome, he's got a sick style, all i was sayin is he doesn't do much in the way of comps.

i do hate to say this...and before i make my point, i would like to preface it with the following: kaya is an AMAZING skier, the best girl out there by far, i love watching her ski, she is doing great things for women's freeskiing, and finally she would destroy me in the park... that being said,

Many girls will point to kaya as an example of how women's freeskiing is catching up to mens, and while that is true (based in a large part to the horrid level of womens skiing in the last few years with the exception of sarah, grete, and ash) kaya would not even be recognized as a male skiier. Many reletive unrecognized males are throwing sw tens. fireunderwater, it is just unrealistic to say that womens freesking will ever equal mens, please point out ONE sport where this is true (and using the tennis tornament in the 80s between that guy and girl pro doesnt count because that was a publicity stunt involving just two individuals). Im not talking about isolated individuals, im saying the entire field is equal. It just doesn't happen. That said, i would again like to state that kaya kills it.

i totally agree with you.... i mean everyone can spin one way and then stop their spin and start going the other way.... seriously i learned that shit the first day i started skiing. also it's not like it's that hard to stomp your landings switch in pow or anything making it look effortless unlike a lot of people do..... again i would just like to tell you how much i agree with you.
 
you are severely misinformed. Pep does the craziest shit into powder that no one could match last year, although I'm sure Andy Mahre will make a threat this year, Pep is not irrelevant you have no idea what progression is
 
Kaya fucking rips she is amazing. I very much respect her as a skier, and I do agree that she is at the same time very feminine.

Name a male pro skier that Kaya is a better skier than -- and I mean really better than, not just better than when you account for the fact she is a girl -- and I will agree that men have no physical advantage over girls in the sport of skiing. I'm not trying to be an asshole. I'm not trying to disrespect girls in skiing. I am just trying to illuminate the facts.

That out of the way, I think this is an awesome thread, and to the guy who said that the kid eating cheetos in the lodge is just as relevant to a pro, shut the fuck up. Relevance to the sport means just that, you're a figurehead in front of some kind of a movement, be it Tanner and Mik D for the gangsta stuff, Jacob Wester for the metro-style (I think he's pretty irrelevant, by the way), or guys like Sage and Pollard for the BC. Those guys are relevant because they're influencing the way the sport will go once the next generation takes over. The kid eating cheetos is irrelevant, because he's not pushing the sport in any way.

so, my list of irrelevants...

a lot of guys in s6

Nico

Mike Olenik

and all the guys you see doing cab 5s in the BC and swcorked7s in the park because those are the tricks that are hot to put in segments.
 
....which is not to say that you're not sick if you're irrelevant, it just means you don't mean too much in the scheme of skiing's progression and current state.
 
but what if the kid that is irrelevant in your eye gets someone else to start skiing and that kid becomes the most progressive kid ever.
