Most Environmentally Clean Ski Company

Just a random question here about ski manufacturers. Does anyone know which company(s) are the cleanest in terms of environmental effect?
 
there are a few different companies that have taken step to become more environmentally friendly...
 
Surface has a ski that they plant trees for everyone sold, and it made out of reclaimed lumber I believe. Head also manufactures there skis and tennis raquets, and possibly other things in a very eco friendly way too.

Almost every company out there has a statement on how environmentally conscious or "green" they are. For the most part it is just careful wording and strategic statements citing information that really only sounds environmentally friendly. When you look at the raw numbers that actually matter they are all pretty much the same, that is to say terribly inefficient and waist-full. But then again inefficiency is required by law.
 
It is, just like you are forbidden by law to travel faster then 3.00x10^(8) m/s and when you jump up your required by law to come back down again. But most people know of those laws. Less people know about the ones limiting efficiency.
 
Bamboo is a grass that grows extremely fast.

That said using bamboo must be shipped over seas and is killing panda habitat which isnt very eco friendly.
 
I'd assume the MOST environmentally clean ski company would be a very small company that makes about 10 pairs of skis a year in a garage; however for "known" companies any that use bamboo will have an advantage; but as the guy above said, Liberty use a lot of wind power and have a number of other schemes to reduce their impact on the environment.
 
Check out Grown Skis. They seem to be the greenest, although Im not sure how to get their skis or if they really make more than a few pairs in a season
 
honestly HEMP should be used to make skis. The reason Hemp was banned from growing in the first place is because the lumber industry knew it would be a better product for producing many goods... So now people can't get high cause of that lol. But yea hemp should be the fast growing grass used for production in my opinion
 
also thanks for the facts guys. I'm looking to try and do little bits to "save our snow" and sounds like Liberty skis should be my next pair, couple others maybe
 
You can grow bamboo anywhere though, as you said it is a grass that grows extremely fast. My friend has some growing in his backyard in Alabama.
 
bamboo is a grass and extremely eco friendly. it grows naturally on it's own. they have so much in China, that they can't cut it down fast enough. it only takes 3-5 years of growth for it to be harvested. some other woods that other companies use take up to 30-50 years of growth before it is harvested. so yeah, buy liberty. everyone is jumping on their bandwagon with the bamboo, but they were the first to put bamboo in all their skis, first to be 100% windpower. even if you don't care about the environment, bamboo makes one hell of a ski core. that shit is so poppy and light.

You are probably correct. I just meant that Liberty was the first company that had decent distribution in North America that put bamboo in all of their skis. Plus, they don't cost an arm and a leg like Kingswood. Those Kingswood skis look badass though.
 
theres tons of bamboo growing in north america right now i dont know what your talking about.

surface green lives seem awesome though i guess everything is 100% recycled from leftover parts in their factory. really sweet.
 
Pretty much every independent ski company(Armada, Surface, Moment, 4frnt, Bluehouse, Faction)are pretty environmentally friendly. Or at least try to be.
 
I think surface is making the biggest push right now and will only continue to become more earth friendly....
 
lots of companies are becoming more eco friendly. surface green life is the most dramatic that comes to mind
