Like I could see it if the movie was made seriously but it was made because Kevin Smith got super high on his podcast and thought it would be hilarious if he made a movie where a man was obsessed with walruses and said the line "At heart is man truly a walrus?" I mean it's a comedy and it was made as a comedy. That one detective dude has multiple lines about how poutine gives him diarrhea

To clear things up I just read the plot so I have no idea about the acting or the dialogue, the plot itself is really fucky to me. Like how he broke the guy down and the dude thinks he's a walrus. it just got me thinking.

If it had been made seriously and you cut out the half hour of dumb shit that Smith threw in there to try and make it funny it could have been amazing cus the idea and the execution of the walrus suit are awesome in a "holy shit have you guys seen this crazy ass horror movie" kinda way. There are scenes where if the intention were to be scary, creepy, or whatever instead of Kevin Smith jerking off and saying "haha this shit is hilarious" the movie for sure would have been disturbing but the tone he sets throughout the movie just makes it stupid

it's definitely a comedy, but when it went full walrus it was kinda fucked up for the last 30 min or so. it's not beginning to end disturbing but of recent movies i've seen it's a little out there (given that i don't usually seek out disturbing movies).

I think this is still talking about serbian film yeah? I read that the people who made the movie were investigated after the film's release, but I don't think they were ever charged. Almost positive it was all staged, not that I've seen the damn thing, and never wish to...

Serbian film is much more recent. Salo is from the 70s. So much of the darkness and twisted fear gets taken out of Salo even though it's fucked up in concept because film just wasn't where it is now

I've seen a lot of messed up movies like Salo, Cannibal Holocaust, Ichi, etc, but A Serbian Film for sure takes it as the worst. First time I saw it I was alone at night out in the boonies while a thunderstorm was happening. Definitely played with the nerves.

Haha I mean it WAS funny too (still cant believe that was Johnny Depp haha) but that costume was so hideous. Everytime I close my eyes I see Justin Long standing on that platforn making that godawful wallrus sound and I just want to die a little. Just creeped me out thats all.
