In any of your experiences, have any of you noticed that people get hurt more often on any certain type? Just wondering cause i saw 3 kids get jacked up on this one table yesterday in the span of 2 hours, sorta made me wonder.

Haha, we don't have step downs in PA so maybe thats why I haven't considered them.

why do a lot of people get hurt on step downs? Do they over shoot them or what we dont have any where i am so i have never had the chance to hit a big one.

people get hurt on step downs cause you are in the air for alot longer and you drop down alot so when you land you are traveling down more then you are forward. thats why when you drop a big cliff you need alot of speed so your main motion is forward and there is less vertical impact.

either a step down or a hip...because people are stupid and either over shoot or undershoot the landings of the step downs...or on the hip they just proceed to go almost straight off then clip the edge of the landing and roll down teh side

I'd have to go with hips. If you don't air it right you kill yourself on the deck, land too far down the tranny, or lose control when you get ejected off that lip.

whats a step down and a step up. in PA id have to say the 20 foot tables with the landings all ice as hard as concrete, shit hurts.

a step down is where the landing is below the take off, a step up is the opposite

and i definately thing step ups are the most dangerous, especially BC...i've heard of far too many people coming up short, and breaking legs etc...

dont even think anything is dangerous, sure, some things can create situations that are uncomfortable or sketch due to design, but the danger factor comes from each individual. thinking otherwise is the exact reasons personal injury lawyers are winning the war against terrain parks, and skiing in general

 
Step ups, only because I've never seen a step down up close. Watching people bombshell into step ups just makes me cringe.

I wiped hard on a step down today, I dont really remember but I guess I went off, with tails loaded or something, somehow got my back parallel to the ground. I looked at the sky and was like 'Oh fuck'. Then after sailing magnifcently through the air 20 feet up, I came back to earth to promptly land on my back/neck and almost break it. What a wonderful jump it was.

well, id rather come up short on a step down than a gap. i'd say that theres more risk in a gap jump, but theres more people doing step downs, so more people get hurt on those.

big tables with ice landings. Ruts are the worst. Even the smallest table with the bad ruts we get around here can fuck you up real bad. Combine that with icy conditions= bad times
