Most annoying genre of skiier

Anyone who’s out there in a rush to do shit. Love me a crew who couldn’t be fucked to get first tracks or be first in line

Probably, but not a fucking pussy.

Once you can do a backflip, you can do one every year until you are old old. Look at Gaffney and Douglas, still doing at least 1 backflip/dspin7 per season and they are like 50 years old.

You may still be able to do those tricks but the risk vs reward balance definitely shifts, if you've had multiple surgeries the cost of that both financially and mentally adds up, as much as a person may want to still do spins and flips, one mistake could put them back in hospital and out of action for another year. Sometimes you just have to accept that you may not be the skier you once were, it sucks but it's true.. but we'll always have shifties!

This. I definitely don't ski like I used to. I over shot a jump bad a few years back and I am lucky to still be walking. So I made the choice is rather ski then not be able to. I still have tons of fun and do my thing but the days of 60 footers and crazy trix are probably gone. And if any one hates on it. They can get fucked

Truth. You can ski with me then! I still have fun, even though I keep it pretty much on the ground. ;-)

I feel you man, 34 with 4 major surgeries on one knee, not risking another just to prove to someone that I used to have a bag of tricks; moved to skiing powder and finding other ways to have fun on the mountain and still loving it, it's just a different phase in what I hope will be a long life of skiing.

My homies and I are average park riders who can hit most rails and maybe a couple tricks on them. 360s and 540s are what we do on jumps. We stay pretty quiet and do not make fun or anything. What sets us apart is we have nice gear, every one of us has our own jobs and bought our own gear and passes but people still rip on us cause we have good gear. Shit is so annoying when you're enjoying the day and someone is making fun of you for being spoiled. Nah man I fucking work 50 hour weeks all summer and 20 hour weeks during school as a highschooler so I can buy nice things and my parents refuse to buy me anything.

Rants over

Could it be that the most annoying ones are the ones that get annoyed by the other ones?

I only get annoyed if someone gets dangerously close to me at speed. So I do have that.

Those crusty, jaded locals who never seem to stop complaining. Bitching about how the mountain is skiied off already, bitching how the report said 8" but it really seems like 6". Bitching about long lines on a powder day. You ride a chairlift with one of these guys and you realize that being a ski bum for the rest of your life isn't all that its chalked up to be. I thank them for helping me choose a new direction in life.

Feel this. For every chilled out, long time ski bum with some grander perspective on life there are five eternally pissed off ski bums raging at every bit of the lifestyle they chose.

Cracks me up to hear Jackson folk complain about crowds. Like sorry you have the sickest terrain around, sounds awful!

I feel that. I like fresh snow but I like to cruise and not worry too much.

Amen.

Don't get me wrong, first tracks are great, but if you have damp skis mobbing through tracked out powder is almost just as fun, with none of the stress of having to be "first."

honsetly i got thrown at with snowball when i was trying to learn 3s (my first year skiing) by a fifteen year old who cant do a 5 without falling

personally a usasa kid and ive met some assholes ngl but some of us are chill

So I'll gig ski and snowboard events as a food/beverage promo model or brand ambassador or mascot suit or whatever...

and I've just got this goat for low energy demo tent workers.

I'm in character and always so hyped on their shit, picking it up and reviewing all "dude bro steezy fuckin sickazz you ever heard of Newschoolers bro" like a 1000 mph hurricane.

About 25% of the time whoever it is just kinda shuts down.

Side note, about 10% are freakin legends that'll get all wacky and start hollering with with me.

Forever I'm all like "Yeah such and such brand are totally in with the Mountain Dew girls. They got the cleanest lineup this season."

I mean there's introverts and extroverts and I certainly dont hate em for it. I'm just annoyed for like 5 seconds, cuz like, shit! Just come on and get weird with me for a minute dude!

It's not gonna stop me from wanting to buy their shit or impact my opinion on their brand (unless they're like stuck up and mean ego freak or something, which is actually more common than you'd think. Some people just kinda have these shitty preconceived notions about energy drink girls. I've definitely got a few fuckers on my shit list.)

Really it's my own problem for being such a firecracker.

They're just busy trying to work, and don't need some gear-crazed "take an energy shot you pos!" girl tearing through their tent lol.

My back is beginning to realize this too. Would that we could all just take slams on slams until we're 75, but that's just not the nature of the human body. Our only hope is that one day bionic implants and exoskeletons interphase with our nervous system so well that we can have a mass raid on the factories that sell them for 1 million dollars apiece. We will find ourselves a certified Newschoolers surgeon to turn us into bionic superskiers that will shred at age 80 just like when we were 19 years old, and probably even better.

1. The “I used to be able to do all these tricks but now I can’t do anything because I got injured/old” guy. Like unless growing old/injuring yourself has made you physically disabled, you should still be able to do at least some tricks. It immediately makes me think that the person can’t do any tricks at all ( which is totally fine, just don’t try and lie about it ). Not that big of a deal, but for some reason really stamps on my balls.

2. The big time skinning guy who yells at you for bootpacking a skin track that leaves from the resort boundary. Just make a new skin track above/below ya friggin nerd.

Please don't bootpack the skin track

Breaking a new skin track is much harder than following an established skin track. Bootpacking up an established skin track is a douche move.

Get touring gear or accept being called a beater

I have been touring for years.

the point I made in the original post is that if there is a skin track that leaves the resort to access terrain that feeds back into the resort (a cliff band/pillows) I’m not going to bring my backpack and touring gear to go up a skin track that is 300mtrs long.

I realise that is a specific example but that’s the one I made In My previous post.

im not a fucking psychopath, I wouldn’t never go far without touring gear.

I kinda thought so, seen that profile icon elsewhere lol, but you’re not wrong on that, and honestly nobody’s gonna not use a skinner instead of booting through X amount of fresh pow. Better to hear that than when I saw a guy as I got off wildcat skinning the shoulder with his frames, I don’t even think it was open past the upper shoulder.
