i love mos def but this video was put out by a third party with ulterior motives. I know how good of an actor he is and therefor don't really put much stock in the legitimacy of this video

The people who are in guantanimo don't get a trial, some are charged with nothing and have been there locked up for 13 years in hell.
 
i don't really know anything about forced feeding of gitmo prisoners, but i know that I wish we wouldn't do it (if it does, in fact, take place). If these pieces of shit want to go on hunger strikes and starve themselves to death, then fucking let them. Let's use the food to feed the world starving peoples that aren't extremist pieces of shit.

We will even force feed our prisoners to keep them alive, and yet some find a way to fucking complain. You guys know they're striking in part because the millions we've spent on them isn't good enough? Case in point: The US puts in a gym for them, the detainees won't use it because the excersise equipment isn't kosher with their views. So they hunger strike or something like that until they got equipment made by muslims.

The people that are at Gitmo are there for a reason. Theyre the worst of the worst. The fact that there are people out there that feel sympathetic for them is pretty fucked up.
 
More people need to understand that 100% of the people locked up in gitmo would kill a westerner given the slightest opportunity.

Do any of you know what ramadan is? they are fasting for ramadan and all they do is not eat during the day. But once the sun goes down they can eat whatever they want (except pork). They are not trying to starve themselves hahaha.

That said, they completely deserve to be treated this way. We dont just lock up random innocent muslims, they are there for information and if they have strong enough links to be locked up there in the first place, chances are they deserve much worse.
 
You guys are straight idiots. This is not "Guantanamo Bay Style." This shit happens everywhere in America. My uncle is a dentist and does work at max security prisons in Ohio. He told how some inmates try hunger strikes all the time. Either they give in, and if they dont, they watch another inmate get a tube shoved through them to pump food into their stomach. He says that the sight of that is enough to end the hunger strikes usually. This shit happens at all big prisons in America. It just now happens to Mos Def and the news see the opportunity to go crazy claiming he is being tortured like he's in Guantanamo. Such horseshit.
 
The hunger strike started 150 days ago dickwad. Ramadan happens to be in the middle of their strike
 
No, they're not. A lot of prisoner's in Guantanamo Bay are potentially innocent, sold to America by Afgan/Iraqi forces and held there without trial.

In case any of you of the opinion of killing all the Muslims there because they would do the same to us just so happen to think that regulating magazine sizes violates the constitution, most of the inmates here are held indefinitely without trial. Pretty clearly states in the bill of rights that we can't do that.

Most of the peeps in gitmo aren't charged with anything, that's why they are in gitmo.

Oh they hate us because our freedom, where's our free trade? Why do we have victimless crimes? We have TSA(technically sexual assault) agents at every airport, if this is about limiting our freedom then they already won. The way we win is by ignoring them and reeling in our own government.
 
On the limited freedom aspect our own government spies on us, PRISM, stellar wind, patriot act, that's just off the top of my head and there's probably a lot more I don't know about, sadly.

and the western world should look a little deeper into why these people hate "us" (US, UK, germany, ...). its NOT for "our freedom" like you right wing nutjobs claim. it has also very little to do with religion. religion is just the catalyst and a pretense to hide the underlying reasons. fact is that WAAAY more people have reasons to be mad at us. we should be happy that only the middle eastern guys are revolting. "we" slaughtered half of africa in a bloody quest for slaves, gold and ivory.

force feeding someone because he would otherwise starve himself to death is a tricky thing. one on hand, you have the conscious decision of an adult to kill himself. the other side is pretty obvious, with suicide being a crime and blablabla.

fact is, a civilized country is only civilized if its governed by a law that respects basic human rights and only as long as these laws are implemented in everyday life. prisons shouldnt treat a serial murder/rapist any worse then a pickpocket. even hitler should have gotten a fair trial.

a civilized country doesnt choose when its civilized and when not. i know there is stuff like this going on in a lot of western countries, but guantanamo is the fucking epitome of human rights violations by a 1st world country's government, so it would be pretty "nice" to see it getting closed. thats really the only thing where i am disappointed with obama as an outsider. he SHOULD be able to close it, maybe hes not though.

A nasogastric feeding tube doesn't hurt and it's not hard to feed it into the stomach, it can only be slightly irritating and sometimes people get the feeling that they have to vomit.

They are some other complications but they mostly have to do with the tube taking a wrong path.

But you will not get reactions like Mos Def, unless it's a young child who just doesn't want to co-operate.

Hell we even train some people to do it themselves because it that easy.
 
thats pretty stupid. Its not like america always wants to shove itself into conflicts (sometimes it does) but alot of times, since we are one of the number one countries, it is our job to help others. And to violence is never the answer, thats definitely not true. I dont necessarily morally agree but sometimes it definitely is. LIke im pretty sure negotiating with hitler would have stopped the war. Or just asking japan to stop attacking would have worked too. Sometimes you just need to fuck up the other side so they realize not to fuck with America or its allies
 
NG Tubes are a basic nursing skill. They cause mild discomfort at most. I am a big fan of Mos Def, but am bummed to see a retarded propaganda video. This is just bad acting to trick most people.
 
Well context dictates perception. If you don't want it, even mild discomfort can be pretty distressing. Hell, sex feels great but if you don't want it, you're going to react very differently when the D goes in. Just food for thought.
 
wasnt talking about the world wars (and not even about the recent campaigns of the US) and more about how western countries (us europeans as well) treated the middle east (and the rest of the world) like our fucking natural resources pool with free slaves, gold and oil and whatever stuff.

when something is morally wrong (you said that, right?) but you still do it? that should make you think.

and as a last point negotiating will, on overall, decrease the death toll, yes i am sure. there are other values that are worth to protect, but these are very very tough ethical questions, and not just answered with "FUCK YEAH MURICA" horseshit.

i read stuff on here that people wouldnt bother seeing hundreds of arabs get burned to death and other complete horseshit. and this makes me sad and angry. 9/11 was a complete tragedy, but guantanamo (BTT) is not the solution a civilized country should use. i said the same about human rights violations over here in austria. human right violations are bad, no matter where they happen.
