Morzine Suggestions

Morzine specifically or PDS?

In Morzine itself the wood zone under Fys chairlit is great for pillows/stumps after quite a bit of snow. Quick to lap too.

Mosette chair has great access to open freeride terrain but the run back to the chair is very flat.

If your first up the Prodains lift then take the Chaux Fleurie lift and ski down under it (or nearby) for some drops, brief trees and a fast lap but it gets tracked fast so if you are late up then don't bother there.

Basically everywhere there are things to and (in the right conditions) pow stashes to be had. Main problem with the PDS is the slow ski back to the lifts on cat tracks. Also there are plenty of opportunities to get lost!

I've only done DH MTB in Morzine, but for the whole time I was there, I was scoping for lines that would be good at winter.
Mosettes chair. I reckon the area under SuperMorzine would have some sick tree skiing too. Of course, the Stash, and Chatel

Cheers Smokey!!!

Yeah its PDS... really looking forward to it - I have been hitting the same resorts over the pasr couple of years so im pretty psych'd about a new adventure.

whats the night life like?

sorry to semi hijack the thread but could be open this up the whole of PDS? as i'm heading to Les Gets with the fam in February and hope to ski some of morzine and if i feel like a long day maybe avoriaz. cheers

Absolutely Brother Bernle...

I should have mentioned that in the opening thread - as a day avoriaz is definatley on the cards.

And yes the whole of PDS as we have the PDS pass...

oh oh.. which reminds me if you are booking ski pass through the travel agent etc... have a look on the PDS website first they have a discount price at the moment I think 10 - 20% off running throughout November for ski passes over 5 days.. basically getting a day free...

... food for thought!!!

I spent a month doing DH MTB in PDS this summer: season pass for 103EUR!!!
But seriously, PDS has so much terrain.
Les Gets is nice, is has pretty open, pisted groomers, and a fair few trees, so I'd imagine the glades would be nice.
Avoriaz is amazing too, especially with the Stash, but because Avo is in a bowl, I'd imagine the lift queues to get out are very long.
Then there is Chatel etc, which is super sick, steep, technical, some sick natural features.
The of course, you can head over into Swizerland, into Morgins or Torgon, which face the opposite direction, so have very different snow conditions.
THe area around super chatel seems sick for powder.

Take The Tetes chair lift to the chamoissiere lift to the top, then you've got so many options:
1: when looking at the mountain from the chair lifts, look left and there's a sick powder field to the left of the black run, there are cliff hucks and deep pow opportunities if the conditions are good, to rejoin at the bottom of the chamoissiere chair.
2: head right off the top and keep going up the ridge to hit more powder and more difficult cliff drops, to rejoin onto the red run below.
3: for some truly epic skiing go between the red and the black for powder some natural kickers and the best cliff drops in the skiable morzine area, rejoining almost anywhere.
4: if you have plenty of time and aren't averse to hiking a bit, go straight over under the rope and experience untouched powder fields, you will have to get a bus or taxi to get back to morzine though. This is an unbelievable route, if in doubt get a guide to take you.
Enjoy
