i still dont know why we have to pay for their faults, even if we are the most powerful, why should i pay for an asians problems.. i may sound like an asshole but i like using my money for things other than a decreasing population (which is good in some respects)

have i told you lately that i love you

you know, as intense as that looks, I'm willing to bet it was very mild in comparision to what the wave looked like where it hit worst. Cities of more than 40,000 people were literaly, totaly erased off the map.

both of those pictures are incredible... the first, because that strip of land is probably about a quarter of a mile from one side to the other and its stripped completely clean of any vegitation. Incredible when you stop to think just how dense the jungle in that region of the world is.

the second one is the reason you don't see any 'tsunami in progress' video of the areas hardest hit... it didn't matter if you were standing on top of a three story concrete building. You and your video camera were done for.

qualities solidity well finished after sale services (if broken, ..). so what do you think? out of one fact: armadas black and PINK is ugly and faggy!

And I experienced it. I am in thailand right now and I was lucky to be just out of those areas when the tidal wave hit. I moved over the east side of the peninsula with hords of other tourists, but now I am on my way back to the west coast to help out for a couple days. The videos and pictures does not do it justice. When you get there you see the real human tragedy. It is a horrible thing, these people can pretty much do nothing. 5,000 people have been killed in Thailand so far, half of them tourists. I was luckily one of the survivors. I did though lose one of my friends that i travelled with here for a week or so, that was a little hard to get through. It is much harder to deal with what is going on when you are actually affected by it.

The only enemy agaist progression is FEAR!

^^ stay strong the whole world is in termoil over this one event.

Newschool you are a true asshole that has no understanding of what is even going on.

You would donate to ns faster than to the redcross or cancer.

These events should make you humble yourself, not be a bigger hardass who stands up for what is his, defending it from others, I thought skiers had a more open sharing mind than this bullshit. You have not lost anyone close to you and if you have, you just don't give a shit. Try being human rather than just tough and cool.

the worst part is that more tragedy may be expected due to the contaminated water and diseases and stuff

yay.snow.yay

this a major tragedy, and speaking from here in sweden, it takes its toll... i've heard that there is going to be a funeral at my school probably when we go back, like 3 people died from our school though im not sure... so tragic...

unfortunately i ask myself this question, would this be as mediatised if the tourists weren't westernners? i mean, 150 thousand is huge, but 200 000 died in Rwanda, and some 140 000 died in china in the 70s, and that was pretty glossed over...

Dude, like, whatevrrrrrrrrrrrr people, oi!

this is a totaly different situation from those things: these contries don't have the infrastructures to repair themselves, hurricanes in america have nowhere near the same destruction as over there, and the world trade center claimed 50times less people, and there wasn't a threat of disease, and there was basic hygiene for the survivors: nobody lived in the wtc.

Dude, like, whatevrrrrrrrrrrrr people, oi!

whoa

thats crazy the wave created like hydraulics and shit in the resteraunt

now i have a question, how tall or big was this wave to throw that much water that it would flood the streets??

and its quite aggravating that the world doesnt help us for our hurricanes, tornados, and other natural disasters, the world thinks we deserve what horrible shit comes to us....well the ppl that are most afflicted by hurricanes and such are almost no better off than alot of these thai or sri lankans....

^true to a certain extent, just realise that those countries are poor, the us is not, and that as sole superpower in the world today, it is something to be proud of that we can give that much money in aid, and not care about wether we need help with our natural dissters...

for the height of the wave thig, i have heard anywhere from 5m to 10 m, but its not really the height that brings the water inland, its the force of the wave and the amount of water carried, so it kinda just flowed like a river thats flooding up into the island and kept going as long as it was pretty flat...some of the water went as far as 7km inland.

Dude, like, whatevrrrrrrrrrrrr people, oi!

damn, that pretty freakin far.

i know, its totally amazing... the devastation is horrific and all the dead people we will never have an identity to is incredible and gut renching...

i cannot stand atlantaski after review of your post that you could actually compare a hurricane in the states vs a tsunami like that on asia: of course no one gives the states any money to help, fact is you guys do not need it, these countries do. All i see of american news is fox and they go on and on about 15 dead in asia like its some big screaming deal; but get this: we lose more us citizens a day in iraq than we did in the tsunami. And more swedes died than in the WTC, just to put the deaths in perspective.

so whoever thinks that the US is owed something because we are being so 'generous' to the rest of the world is BS: as sole super power it is out duty to help the rest of the world because we CAN help them financialy.

i think also that bush needd to realise that he can in one one Billion buck donation win back the support of the whole world, and to be humble about it instead of bragging that we give the most: we don't give enough...

150 000 dead over two continents is humongeous, the us mainland has never known that, so shut up and help, you can afford it, they can't.

Dude, like, whatevrrrrrrrrrrrr people, oi!

yeah, 150 000 people dont die in America's little natural 'disasters'. i agree with 'almostaskier' !

'your friends hate you, plain and simple, your a loser man, but your in luck, wal mart has a half off sale for ropes going on, and for an extra dollar theyll tie the knouse for you' - Ds91260

These are countries which are poor already, and with a disaster like this, many many more will die if cleanup and proper sanitation and food and water is not given to them.

This tidal wave hit with no warning at all.

Hurricanes at least give a days warning or more. And don't do the mass amount of damage that this has done.

That's why the world doesn't come together and give to hurricane relief.
