More than just shinbang?

I get shinbang frequently and i hate it. It feels like a knife being stabbed into my shin whenever i press lightly into the front of my boot. Sometimes if i press really hard it doesn't hurt as much. But thats not what i'm talking about. I took off my sock today to ice my shins and realized that there was a swollen bump right above the top of my foot. Is this normal or what. I'm not quite sure what to do here. Should i just keep icing it and hope it subsides or should i go see a doctor cuz i've serously considered it, especially last season when i might have torn my shin muscle from the bone. I don't know if i really did that because i did a lot of research and that what i sounded like i did. Any advice. + K

ok well first of all your probably getting shin splints, not shin bang. as for the bump on your foot i dont know wtf that is. but with shin splints you want to ice your shins and walk on your heels, or anything that uses the mucle that is on the front of your shin. then before you go skiing take a rolling pin or ski pole and run it up and down your shin, it will hurt really fucking bad but it is so much nicer skiing. there is also a way to wrap you shins. you could probably google "shin spling wrap" or something like that. but all of the stuff helped me so much

Dr. NS's prescription is to go to a real doctor, if you're at all worried it would be best man.... you can get stress fractures or something on your shin and then you're fucked for a season
2nd option?Get SPKs

dude i kinda have the same problem. if i take backseat really hard it feels like my muscle/legiments or w.e gets torn from my shin... and i cant push forward on my boot cause it feels like a really sore bruise. I donno about a lump though, how big is it? i would just say avoid taking backseat at all costs

I used to get shin bang all the time - it was because I would always land backseat and my boots were loose as fuck.

Next season comes - I tighten my boots as high as they can go and lean forward, and I got shinbang once the whole season, man what a season!

i had real bad shin bang last year, Mojo Pro HF Fit is the boot, a really stiff boot, picked up a pair of booster straps, and it basically disappeared.
Did not eliminate shin bang when landing back seat, but helped a ton.

Usually happens when you case a landing or whenever you have a really rough landing that forces your shins hard into the front of your boots.
Hurts like a mother.
Doesn't go away.
Can be caused by boots that are too big.
Use a booster strap

go see a doctor

i got shin splints awhile ago and it hurts so much some times

i thought once i got new boots i would be fine but i had pressure fractiors in my shins which if i want them 2 heal i have 2 not ski for a very long time so go see a doctor befor u fuck your self up for good

also befor u go 2 sleep every night write the alphabet with the foot this will strenthen the shin muscle and it will be stronger and heal faster

sorry about spelling

The number one cause of shin bang is landing back seat. Work on your landings and get smaller boots. Then buy some booster straps, you'll never ski without them again.

well i guess i wont be getting it cuz i put my boots on nice and tight. is it just when yur shins hurt? i got that a little bit once last season, but it stopped cuz i tightened my boots, even though they were pretty tight before.

shin bang is actually your boot cutting off your tibial artery. it can lead to numbness in your 1st and 2nd toes....it sucks. booster straps help, park boots help a shit ton.

its when your shins hurt like a mother, it hurts to ski. i had it so bad last that i couldn't do presses on fujatives, because it would hurt too bad

same thing happened to me and i went to a doctor and her told me i had pressure fractures in my shin which i should have stopped skiing, but i didn't hit any jumps for two weeks and I iced every night and kept my boots ridiculously tight and it felt a little better. there was nothing else to do so i fought through the pain.

most likely you have shin splints
many threads on this (i in fact started one) but i will help u out
every night before bed, lay on your back and pull your feet in towards your body as if you were walking on your heels but your laying down. try to hold it for 5 min. it might seem hard but do this every night
ice and rest should also help
get some kind off wrap for sports, google shin splint wrap.
icy hot sometimes can relieve pain
get boots that fit (maybe spks, i have to try those) and buckle them extra tight
don't land in the trunk (back seat)
i have this too and it sucks
