Man, We in Colorado are really hurting for snow. I hope this storm system this weekend will get us the help we really need.

VAIL (AP) - Two Colorado ski resorts are postponing their opening days because of warm weather.

Vail

Resorts Inc. says it will open Vail Mountain ski area Wednesday, the

day before Thanksgiving, instead of on Friday as initially planned.

Steamboat Springs says it will open on November 30 instead of Wednesday.

Andy

Wirth, a spokesman for Steamboat owner Intrawest, says warmer weather

is creating challenges for snowmaking machines. He says crews are

working to manufacture more snow as the weather turns colder.

Vail

Mountain Chief Operating Officer Bill Jensen says an expected shift in

weather patterns should produce low temperatures that will allow his

resort to step up snowmaking.

He says it appears the first significant storm of the season is expected next week.

Well A-Basin has been open since October 10th. Loveland has been open since October 17th(i think that was tthe date).

haha i feel like i'm reading the denver post anytime he posts anything.  its always random news about colorado like 3-4 times a day.

i wish i could feel for you guys out in colorado.
but the conditions in tahoe are wayy worse.
this is three years in a row now. last two years almost everywhere opened first weekend of december and that was unheard of.
and now this will be 3 in a row
im above most base elevations for ski areas at my house and its aboe 60! right now.
no snow on teh ground either :(.
and rain to come and like an inch of snow MAYBE on monday :'(

Might be a stupid thing to ask but do they have snowmaking there? They must being that there has not been a lot of snow fall in that area and been pretty warm there also.

Yes, they have 5 Techno Alpin fan guns. Right now they have been trying to do their best to make snow, and FI70 (main trail outside lodge) is covered about halfway down...

Echo is at 10,400 evelvation, but the wet bulb temp hasnt been dropping below 30 in the last few weeks. Im going friday night to help with snowmaking, so I should know more info by then.

Also the postponed opening day all depends on if we get snow or not. If we dont get snow, we will open Nov. 30th. If we do get snow, we may open on regualr scheduled day, Nov.21st.

Ill let you know!

PS-Snow is in the forecast for this weekend!

Dance fools dance!

I won't get to say this likely ever again in the context.

But it's absolutely PUKING in the hills south of Buffalo, NY right now!

Woooooooo!

Nice, I made snow at Keystone three years ago. (about)

I live kinda close to Evergreen, about five miles from there.

Boohoo. You guys have been skiing since October. Nah but I feel you guys, I would be pretty disappointed too.

that sucks man, but coming from the eastcoast, that still is pretty sick. my mountain usually opens up in december- u guys get so much more skiing out west. My mt should open earlier this year tho

Im living in Genesee at the moment, I am looking to move out though. I had to move into my dads cause i was dating this girl that made me choose between her or my skis..well I chose my skis!

Carolina, fucken serious. usually when i think of carolina as a beach place but now most places cant even open before a place in carolina, that is crazy

I swear Crested knew about this.. and jinxed it for all of us. Free skiing for like 2 weeks or whatever? .. pff.. they don't have to worry about losing shit for $$, b/c there isn't anything to ski

Suck it Trebeck

what the fuck do we have to do with this, freeski starts on the 25th, it sucks everywhere

Alyeska Opens Tomorrow. AND

We've been to Hatcher Pass, Highland and Arctic Valley. All just north ff Anchorage AK.

Highland was DOPE last night.

Total snow fall this season is

112" at the top since November 1, 2007 and we received an additional 40" in October.
