The fact of the matter is that this year's slopestyle course had more rails that any prior year. The fact is that the broadcast of the comp only shows the line that the competitor takes. Last January there were 2 different lines skiers could take. One, which the majority took was full of hips and booters. The other line, which very few took, and no-one took the whole way down was full of rails. Around about 10 all up if you took it the whole way down. Thing is, noone ever really saw it on TV.
In terms of having bigger jumps, its a contested issue each year and competitors complain each year about the size of the jumps, especially Jon did this year. The problem is that it's difficult for Aspen to build large tabletops on the run that they have the course because it is too short and too flat. The last money-time booter was actually built up after the first couple of days. There were originally to kickers on that table but the smaller one to the left was pulled and the larger got built up larger.
