Unless they are able to make it while the perp is still there, they don't do anything I can't on my own.

Seriously poor example, I've had plenty of friends who have been robbed, mostly in college towns, and all the cops have to say is you're SOL.

poor example, how bout a rape? after watching my fair share of law and order svu marathons on usa, i feel that the police have a few more tools in their chest than the average joe.

I've been in quite a few quarrels with police in my time.

Did I deserve it? Completely.

Are there bad, power hungry people in the world? Yes, everywhere. And half of them are running our country. There are shitty people out there, no matter what rank of society they're in.

Do I think that police are ultimately there to help us out and to enforce the law upon idiots who can't adhere to the basic morals of society? Absolutely.

Trust me, I used to "hate police" too...But I was 18, and I thought I was better than everything and everyone who tried to keep me from doing what I wanted to do. Cause and effect, my friend. And as much as I want to agree with OP's perspective, society undoubtedly needs police.

I'm all for exploiting police brutality...I'm also all for exploiting any kind of power abusing person whether it be a teacher or a fucking garbage man. Don't hate on cops A LOT of them are good people and most of the time there is an untold story behind the video.

I'd make the argument that it's amoral to even become a police officer. Anyone who willingly puts himself in a position in which he may have to enforce an unjust law is acting amorally in my opinion.

Plus, I'm a lot more likely to be screwed by cops than helped by them.
 
Okay, so I have never experienced police brutality towards myself or anyone close to me, however I have had a lot more bad experiences with cops rather than good.

There is an issue which has been occurring for awhile, and cell phone cameras are finally allowing many to be caught. I understand it's a dangerous job often times and some may be nervous doing it and react aggressively, but given their job and duty it's most important that this doesn't happen. Too many have been given paid vacations for clear overkill of law enforcement.

I trust that if I need them cops will be there for me, but that's not to say there are some issues with individual officers which need to be addressed
