More Freeskier Treachery!

Many of you know about the recent happenings in the Fantasy League and how everyone got Liam's points for the Anti-Gravity Grail. But something that no one knows about is happening right now as I write this post....It all started with a great idea for a rail, something I spent a lot of time on and put a good deal of hope in. The contest was the Test Your Metal contest by Freeskier and Keystone, which awarded a trip, lift tickets, and accomodations during the freeskier jibfest. So, I entered my rail, and then I waited til the supposed release date of the winner. But before then, I received an email that envigorated me so much. It was from Julian Lamarche, the rail designer at Keystone, and it said that I was in the top three finalists, and that he wanted to talk to me about my rail for more specifications. So, I called him and he generally told me that they could get a lot of shots on the rail and that my design stood out the most from the top three. This was on Jauary 25, and I am speaking to you now on March 22. I would like to tell you that they disclosed the winner on March 1st, but they didn't. In fact, after three weeks I finally got enough nerve to send an email asking for results. I checked the site everyday searching for a winner in the breaking news on the home page, but nothing has happened yet. Worst of all though is that I have emailed them and Julian several times, even just asking for reply or an update on the progress, but no one has answered. Julian told me that they would have to start building April 1st to finish the rail, if mine was chosen, and that date is rapidly approaching with no reply from freeskier. I am to the point that maybe they arent going to answer me, and they arent going to continue the contest due to lack of money or that they just decided not to do it. This would be very disgusting, yet they could tell me at least that the contest was discontinued or something. I am losing faith in freeskier now after all of this ignorance and procrastination, but they could at least have some decency.

Im from Hood, and they always live up to what they say. Man, if im right then that is so disappointing, I mean my rail was undenyably sick, and Julian even said something like: 'So, If you don't win can I still build your rail, because it is so sweet?!' Which bothers me, because I could get like money for that design, and now he's going to steal it probably. This is like the next big-hype rail. This is like the Colossus S-box last year at Mammoth hype. I am so pissed. I should give the plans to Timberline so I can actually ride it and have people I know who give a shit get the credit for it.

I would show, and I dont want to be an ass, but if somehow i still win, then it wouldnt make for a great suprise to any of you. And it wouldnt help out freeskier's sales, which somehow it is supposed to, if 30000 of the 31000 skiers that care have seen it.

if I am right, and they have totally screwed me, of course i will enrich this community and the whole ski industry with my rail so that maybe ill have some credit for it and not just get screwed over like shit. But i may be getting ahead of myself, maybe theyll write me back tomorrow, who knows with freeskier.

 
Freeskier has been nothing but the shittiest magazine covering newschool skiing since the start. At least Axis has SOME redeeming value. Freeskier has none. Maybe now people will believe me when I say it.

I really hope youre wrong because i have never won anything remotely like this before. I won pocket rockets once for a comp, but nothign this big.

Can you actually claim against a company or something like that for not following through with a contest? I mean that would be so just not the right way to go about it, but I always wondered if anyone actaully won the million dollars in those mcdonalds monopoly contests. It always seemed like they wanted the added consumers, not to actually give away stuff, althouugh they make a killing with those things.

 
McDonalds got into a lot of trouble with their monopoly thing one year because a couple of employees working for one of their contractors stole a few of the winning gamepieces. They ended up having another contest to make up for it, but the bad press was amazing.

Definitely follow through. Be assertive, haha i feel like a health teacher saying that, but still you should. Don't let them screw you over, especially if your design is as sick as you say. Definitely a good idea to keep following through, and checking up with them. Rock on man.

freeskier doesn't have to follow through on the contest. somewhere on the contest entery form it probably said something along the lines of 'subject to change without notice'. you people like to cry a lot when you don't get your free shit eh? did you lose anything by them not following through on the contest? no!

freeskier is probably the best mag out there! it's production is extremely professional, unlike axis, the bastard child of powder. freeskier also doesn't publish bullshit from brad holmes! you all talk about supporting rider driven companies but you wont support a rider owned magazine but you will support some of the biggest corporations in north america?

on another note...ive had nothing but great experiences with Freeskier on a working basis. Quick reply's, super friendly people (unlike Freeze, who is the exact opposite), and just people who generally wouldnt steal your rail design
