Morality and atheism

Can anyone here produce a valid set of morals without stating that either the human mind or the entire universe has attributes that can't be described in rational, scientific terms?

I can't.

Well if you can't be satisfied in a moral way without the entire universe being explained in rational or scientific terms, I'm sorry to say there probably isn't much anyone can do.

On the other hand, the human mind you can pretty easily make a very good rational explanation (dig in to Plato, Aristotle, Machiavel, Hobbes, Descartes, Bacon, etc.) or scientific one (delve into psychology) for yourself. I have, in a general way, but am such in awe of these great minds that I dare not "post" what I think about what is man on NSG.

Woot.

The human brain is the most complex thing in the know universe. Infact it is so complex that even the brain itself cant comprehend. Therefore it is impossible to understand why people do what they do. As far as a set of morality based on science you have to think in terms of reaction. For example you steat from someone several times and never get caught so you keep on stealing. One day you get caught and the person call the poliece and you spend some time in jail. Now a smart person is able to play through these events in his head and as a precaution he does not steal in the first place. You have to remember that just like every creature on earth man sole purpose is self preservation. This is the force that drives evolution. Every decision someone makes is based on the fact that they want to better their own existence.

As far as ration terms the universe is so massive it is rediciously to even try to understan. Is it rational no it is outrageous. Take for exaple the number of molecules in one mole. 6.023 X 10^23 (that may not be 100% correct.) If you had this much money and spent 1 billion dollars a second for every second of an 80 year life you would end up spending less than 1% of the total value. That is just in one mole. My theroy is that if the universe is infinitely large it must also be infinitely small. Heres a shocker there is no god. Its all but been proven. The olny thing that keeps some people going is the fact that they can rationilize their world into "A wise and powerfull beign created me and all that is around me." Yet another example of evolution at work. Your brain reationlizes your enviromet so you can function and procreate to continue your species.
