i think the rule is 50cc? anyone, if im correct get one under that like 49 or what ever so then you dont have to do registration or what ever

it's for insurance purposes I think. 50cc and over you need insurance. registration may still apply depending where you are. Here you still need a license and registration to drive one even if it has less than 50cc.

If i would be you i would get a 2 stroke. More power and funner to drive. For 1000$ I would look into used Derbis, they are pretty good quality.

Yeah two stroke is much better in my opinion. I have had two old 'peds. I would recommend a Honda, they are quality little bikes and most small engine shops can work on them and have parts compatible so you don't have to wait and order parts online. I had a honda hobbit and it did me well. (yellow and white below). Another fun little bike is a puch maxi, They are a little fast and have a lot of parts you can get online for upgrades and mods. They tend to be little bit harder to work on and if your in college then that might not be a good fit for you. If you were thinking 4 stroke because you didn't have to have to worry about mixing oil to gas and such then you could get a Honda express, in those you put in the oil seperatly, and it mixes automaticly and you don't have to worry about ratios. Below are my beauties. If you have any questions you can message me! The first is the Honda Hobbit and the second is the puch maxi.

in colorado anything over 50cc you need a motorcycle license. technically you need a 49cc registered and insured too but i would be shocked if you ever got pulled over and questioned. i have my ruckus insured and its literally 5 bucks a month which isnt bad for a $2000 scooter. i also got it registered which was $15 bucks for 3 years.

have you decided on an engine yet? since i did some suspension work and a frame stretch i've considered an engine swap as well but was always afraid of air-cooled.

I know it's not a moped, but get a fricken grom.

A Honda grom is the worth it's weight in fun and you can find them for under 2 grand

my buddy has a ruckus and the thing is a fuckin blast

i recently got a ruckus for a grand from a buddy, i could easily sell it for 1500 right now, they keep there value and are the most badass lookin things. If you can find one for that cheap hop on it cuz youll prolly be able to make your money back

I mean, are you agaist getting an actual motorcycle? You can get a 2006-2009 250 something for pretty cheap depending on where your at. I'm about to pick up a 2009 250r myself just for around town riding.

Honda ruckus for 50cc. Which will take you up to the 35mph range for around town driving.

If you want to go faster than that(~60mph to jump on the highway), get a used 1980 motorcycle. Seriously, the retro look is worth paying half the price. I picked up a 1980s yamaha enduro for 800

FYI 50cc dosen't require a motorcycle license.

not the slightest clue. my homies built out a few. im trusting his judgement/experience. im not a huge fan of the stretch look gotta say but for the power ill give it a shot. driving my ruckus on some of the more major roads around denver currently can get a little scary.

you could always just register a 50cc and then bore it out to 70 or so.

really though if you wanna have a lot of fun with it try and find a cheap supermoto instead. you will need a motorcycle licence for that though

It's like a sport bike...

Without the commitment...

I'll be posting soon my 250r street fighter conversion project. As soon as I find time to drive 6 hours to get the dumb thing.

I'll have to convert it. I hate how the fairings look on the 2007 250r but I'm getting it for 1,400 so I'm not mad.

I'll do a delete on the cluster stand and mount a can light, then I'll probably fab a skid plate. Should be a pretty fun and inexpensive project
