Montreal School shootings

so true. However, the shooter is to blame. They did kill people, they just werent in a proper frame of mind.

This is the main weapon the gunmen used:

ok to put it simply, we dont have a gun problem here in canada compared to the US, yeah michael moore still has it right. But put it this way kids all over the world are similar in the sense that if they are picked on for being different or not accepted into normal crowds some learn to hate them and become so frustrated that they can sometimes get pushed over the edge because they have nothing going for them "in their eyes" so they go after their "enemies." I'm sure you all know someone who was picked on then snapped, probably into a brawl or something, but some kids take it that next step. It can happen anywhere. I think what everyone has to do to prevent these tragedies from happening is to treat everyone with respect even if you hate everything about them, you dont have to be friends just have respect, and itl prevent these things from happening. Thats my two cents.

its a good point. but kids will always pick on other kids. and those who are bullied will either do two things. take it or dish it back. it just depends on what degree they come back at you. some kids committ suicide, others shoot-up a school. some do nothing at all, or they can go home and cut themselves. its just how they are in the head. shit happesn. i know it doesn tneed to, but the planets been going strong for a few years now and this stuff wont go away

completely agree, you cant go on to blame society or parenting here... he may not have been officialy crazy, but he was defenitely unbalanced and something triggered him

I'm going to ignore most people in this thread, cause most people don't know their nose from their finger up their ass with what's going on.

21 people were shot, 2 died, one was the shooter, and sadly one was an 18-20 year old girl. It's lucky more weren't hurt though, due to the fact that he had 3 more firearms and ammunition in the trunk of his car just outside the entrance he went through. Also, during the time of day and area he attacked, it's a very densely populated area, so that too makes it lucky more weren't hit.

They're talking about putting additional security measures in the school, but how can you prevent a completely random occurence? You can't. Metal detectors, cameras, security guards, none of them will do anything.

I don't really have much to say, I'm still in too much shock to really put anything into any kind of sense, but my condolences go out to the family of the girl, and I say good riddance to the shooter.

And there have never been any shootings at McGill. As mentioned, there was one at the Ecole Polytechnique de Montreal, because the guy thought that the school favoured women applicants. There was also one at Concordia more recently where one of the teachers believed that the other teachers in his department were stealing his research and a couple other reasons that aren't coming to mind. In that attack only other members of the faculty were harmed.

this isnt really related to the story itself, but its related to how americans are somewhat more self-absorbed then candians.

Ill explain: when i heard about this shooting in MTL, i thought holy shit, thsi is rediculous, and while im watching this on CBC, i decide i wonder if this is being broadcast on any american news channels, and what do you know, it isnt. Larry King is interviewing Sean Penn on CNN, and on another american news channel Glenn Beck, who i personnaly think is an absolute moron, is talking about the 9/11 attacks, justifiably so, but then he starts going on about how Hugo chaves hates the states and so on, and he praises everything that is american, and im thinking in my head, what the hell, there isnt even a mentioning about what happened in MTL, in the bottom of the screen, but when shootings in teh states occur, canadian news is all over it, anyway, its kinda getting off topic so im going to stop ranting.

Also, RIP to the girl that was killed, and definatley good riddance to the shooter, he was nuts this guy, 3 registered automatic weapons on him, why the hell would someone be aloud to have those, i cant possibly understand why
